State Ref "Fix-it"
 
Hello everyone, I just recently got state reffed, on the ticket the "fit it" or correctable box is marked, and on the bottom it lists my options, but since it marked for fix it im assuming I cant just pay the fee and the ticket and call it a day? My question is what am I to do, the officer jsut took a picture of my turbo and the ticket says non carb complience, so if I go to the station to get it checked after replacing the turbo with the stock intake and exhuast but keeping everythubg else, would I pass? What is aloud and what isnt?

CA smog guy here.

Your car has to be completely CARB compliant when you take it to the referee otherwise it'll fail. It's basically like doing a regular smog inspection except the inspector is extra meticulous since they know your car was already modified. I wouldn't expect to slip anything by the referee inspecting your car either. At this point, you're dealing with a state employee and not a private business. Basically you need to set the car fully back to stock and/or have "EO" numbers for any California-approved aftermarket performance parts.

Your post didn't specify but I'm assuming you're in CA correct? I might check around a couple modified car facebook groups or talk to a "hot smog" guy before going in for the ref inspection. I've heard there may be a way or two around it depending on the situation but I've no firsthand knowledge about this myself.

Yeah I’m in California, so what about like mishomoto radiator, coolant reroutes, headlights, or it is specifically smog stuff like injectors and ecu? Would they be able to tell if I had a mega squirt if it’s under my floor board completely?

Radiator, reroute, headlights should all be ok. The ref is just about engine/emissions-related equipment.

They will likely check your ecu, regardless of whether it's in a visible area or not. Injectors will be checked for sure.
