Story of my run in with a STi

So, im tearing up some backroads, and a nice white 04 ish sti goes by me. Outta instinct, I whipped the car around and chased. As soon as I get behind him, he GOESS. Shit, I could sorta keep up till it got twisty, he simply has more balls than I did, plus I had a passenger. So soon we get behand a slow car and he gives me a thumbs up.

We then get on to RT1, and he waves me next to him. He askes if its a FM2 kit, I said no I built it my self, to which he says wow! (was cool he knew a little about turboed miatas). So then im like ok, lets do a run. 2ed gear, 3 honks, and I brake boost it. Were even 2ed gear, he has a car through 3rd, and 2.5 cars through 4th gear.

I think I did pretty good, 9 to 10 psi with 2 200 lb people in the car. The STi looked stock, but it did sound pretty loud.

Probably wasn't stock. I spank stock STIs at 220. It takes a Stage 2 car (STI+50whp) to keep up. You're probably at 180-190 at 10psi. Good pulls, though.

nice i hope to be able to beat my friends evo. he has 400 to the crank and 360 at the wheels. all he dose is talk about how its so fast and i keep telling him race a miata putting out 240 whp and your yes will be opened to a hole new world. all these kids think about is more hp the faster there car is and its not i keep telling them its not all about hp its mostly about weight and gearing of the drivetrain.

I hang with stock STIs no problem, Im' a bit faster if I had to say.

Vash-

yaa the awd would kill me but if i were going to race from a dig i would hit the line locks and spin the tire and hit the switch for the bleach injection to the wheels to get them mad sticky and hot to get a good launch :crx::skid:

I call BS at the 400hp at the crank and 360hp at the wheels. AWD cars have notrious drivetrain loss, something like 25%. If he does truely have 360hp at the wheels then he should have closer to 450ish hp at the crank. Also at 360 he will probally have you from a roll unless he miss shift somewhere. From a DIG it will be no contest he wins hands down.

well the 400 crank hp is an estmit from the guy at the dyno but the whp is 360 at 23.5psi of boost. i have been in the car its fast but i think if i finish my miata it will get him from a roll and this kid lost to my friend who has a mazdaspeed 3 with just a short ram intake but this was when the evo 9mr had just a cat back exhaust and even still he only gets about a car lenth away from him now even with 360whp.

Well going back to cardriverx race. That sounded like fun. I know STi's are fast bone stock well from what iv seen there all in the mid 14's to low 14's range. Correct me if im wrong but isnt your car like a 13 second car, that makes that Sti not stock, hehe. But passengers do make a difference. You should of ran him with 13psi.

14s?

Stock STi is low 13s while a stock WRX is mid 14s. Of course it all depends on the driver.

very true i have seen cars that are fast as all hell but if you cant drive shift your not going to do good at all. you could put a shitty driver in a viper and have him race a turbo miata. the miata might just win cuz the dumbass dose not know how to driver lol

And altitude, stock stis run mid 14's up here, maybe low 14s with a good driver. 7200ft ftl, where the strip is at its around 5400 ft i believe.

yes, altitude blows, a guy out here with a gt35 upgrade only ran a 13.1 in his Sti.

Fireindc 04-19-2008 04:09 AM

Lol, damn dude whats your elevation? Thats really damn low. My friend with a wrx wagon with stock turbo, but upgraded compressor wheel, and every other bolt on for it runs 13.2's all day long.

Very true, altitude makes a difference as does the temp and various other track/environmental conditions.
