Stripped threads on the PPF

The very first nut on my PPF is stripped. I ran a tap through it, there is very little thread left.
What is my alternative? Can I just place a regular nut there, and tighten it up? Is there room to get a wrench up there to hold it down? would would work? Crow foot? locking pliers? or should i buy an aluminum nut and have it welded back in?

I had the same but decided to find a matching steel nut and welded on after removing the old one.

Front or rear? Very different nuts.

You had a steel nut welded to your aluminum PPF? I have a hard time believing that...

Where can I source an aluminiun m14 1.5 hex nut? nothing on belmetric, or fastenal. mcmaster doesnt have M14 size

They’re steel. It’s a small bracket riveted onto the top that allows it to slide back and forth. Remove the PPF and see if you can’t fix it, if not, remove and replace.

Oh, I thought that whole thing was aluminum included that pair of bolts. ok, i can just tack weld on a new steel nut.

Yes - the slider is steel and the nuts are also. The thread was based on what I recall an m12x1.5

drove around town, visited 4 shops. 2 had broken welders, 1 wanted $60, last one told me $20, and ended up not charging anything.
