I don't want more than 250whp, on a 1.8.

You might fall a tiny bit short on a 2560, but the spool will IMO make up for that. From what I've heard, a lot of the guys who go with 2860s wish they had gone bigger (3071).

Another I can't decide thread...

I think a 2560 would be a bit small if your looking to track it? Since it will be under load a lot? Am I right in thinking that?

that was my thought, but I went with the #3 intercooler, so I'm not really worried about heat. I was thinking of the bigger turbo to get some head room, and I'd like to make 230-240whp at the lowest psi possible. However, if I end up with a 4.10 or 3.90 rear end, I'd hate to punished myself if I don't keep the revs up enough on the track...since that's about the only place I drive this car now.

I just ordered a 1.8 S3 from Bell. Now you guys can give me **** for leaving the kit in the garage too long. I still have to find a motor, rear end, and 01 sport brakes.

I also have not decided on engine management, but its up to Xede or whatever comes out of DIYautotune for MS. I'm leaning toward Ms right now.

the 2860 seems like one to skip to me. 2554 for great spool, 2560 for a great allrounder, 3071 for big power.

i dont' have a ******* clue whats going to happen on the dyno...but it would be nice to advance mechanical timing a hair to move the powerband forward if I need to spool the bigger turbo sooner. I don't really feel comfortable sitting the car on the rev limiter at the race track now...and really won't with FI.

I'm pretty sure your right.
I believe the GT2560 is the same as the GT28...the GT28rs is the disco potato. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Limits and efficiency of the compressor. Read turbo tech 3 on turbobygarrett.com and do the calculations.

I would go with the 2860r disco potato, since you'll be tracking it you don't have to worry about the spool up times and there will be no lag in higher rpms, this turbo will pull all the way to the redline, 2560 will run out of breath in higher rpms.
