SuperMiata Crossflow radiator

3 Attachment(s)
We have finished prototype testing and started production. Long lead time for the first batch so they won't be here until the end of October, 2014.

The SuperMiata Crossflow is a single 31mm core. The core itself is a highly optimized 19.5 fpi fin pitch with tight 6.5mm fin height. Good for everything from a bone stock NA6 daily driver to a 2.0L F/I enduro car. This radiator is a step or two above the venerable Koyo 55m m in terms of cooling efficiency.

Without A/C or a vented hood but with a reroute, this will keep 250whp track car cool in the hottest weather. Above that power you will need a substantially vented hood. For cars with A/C or 300whp+, a vented hood is a must for track use. The radiator is optimized for use with just a single OEM fan for track use. Cars used primarily autocross and/or street driving with A/C should retain the A/C side fan and wire them in parallel.

Our radiator is the lightest we have weighed except for the OEM plastic/aluminum. 20psi stainless cap with silicone seals is included. The radiator ships with hardware to fit into the NA or NB. One size fits all.

Very excite. May be perfect for the Exocet.

FYI, your hyperlink goes to the wrong page. I think you meant this one:

very nice.
I love that its pnp. I'm guessing those without re-route would need a longer/different hose?

Yup. By the time we ship, we will offer the correct upper hose for non-reroute cars.

Thanks Emilio for your support of our aging cars !

Good cooling for decent price! Nice man. Might have to swoop on one of these.

Looks huge, agree'd on the vented hood as well.

How does this radiator compare to the existing crossflow radiator that you already have on your site? Crossflow aluminum radiator Miata 90-05

It seems to be less efficient yet costs $525 vs. only $349 for the Supermiata version. SuperMiata Crossflow aluminum radiator Miata 90-05

They're very similar actually. The SPM just costs a bunch less but isn't in stock yet. We have one remaining FM crossflow in stock.

I asked Andrew of TSE to build us a custom 30mm single pass back in 2009 I think. Had a custom radiator on my to do list forever. Been using FM's for a year or so until our crossflow was finally ready for production.

I take it the stock cooling fan, the Mishimoto and the FM cooling fans will fit to this radiator with no issues?

OEM yes. I have not tested the FM shroud. We never use shrouds. I specifically recommend against the use of the poorly designed Mishimoto fans. Seen them fall apart and get into the radiator. We use Mishimoto hoses but frankly, everything else of theirs we have tested has been junk.

Update:

We just discovered that our website was setup for the wrong carton dimensions and overcharged several customers on shipping. Oops. We just corrected the error and refunded each overcharged sale order. Sorry for the mix up! So yeah, they're now about half price shipping cost from what the website showed this morning.

Ah, so the $525 one is the FM and the $349 is the new SPM unit? I had been confused about that, at a glance the two pages/images looked similar, I had seen the SPM out of stock page a couple months ago and then recently saw the $525 one and thought it was all one unit and the price had been adjusted.
Excited about a killer crossflow at such a great price point. Expecting to be running one of these down the road. Will take some modification for it to work in the v-mount but will be worth it.

Do you have any recommendations for aftermarket fans for this radiator?

cardriverx 08-14-2014 06:16 PM

Anything spal is really nice.

Single primary stock fan is fine unless it's a street/autcross only car with A/C. In which case a big single Spal works about as well as the OEM primary & A/C fans.

For most users, just stock with the stock fans. They have been plenty for any engine package we have tried.

njn63 08-16-2014 10:22 PM

Very nice piece for a reasonable price.

Mobius 08-20-2014 07:53 PM

If for some reason you have no access to stock fans, or simply want to move to the better Spal fans anyway: For single big Spal I'd recommend VA10-AP70/LL-61A.
For secondary, VA10-AP50/C-61A.

These are what came with my FM airflow kit and I have been very pleased with them. I now use only the big AP70 by itself, and it's plenty to keep the car cool under idling/traffic conditions. I have removed the AC from my car entirely, however.

These are not inexpensive fans.

The peak current draw on some of the big Spals is ornery too. Enough to make you go back and check your battery offset table and PID settings for idle control.
