Swapping 1999 vs 2001 into 1995
Anyone have any thoughts on which motor I should use? My 1995 has 200k on it and I am thinking about using a 1999 or 2001 motor for the swap. Naturally aspirated now, may go turbo later. Thanks for info!

Are you replacing the engine based on age, failure, or due to a bad oil analysis report?
The last two are acceptable, while the first is not :) |
Well low compression, oil blow-by and most seals are leaking...it really needs a complete rebuild. I thought my money would be better spent on a newer motor with a little better air flow and solid lifters.

'01 will pretty much necessitate the use of a standalone ECU with VVT control but it is a better motor. If you're going to stick with a more traditional MS setup and you don't have plans to build the motor, do a '99 block.

Thanks for the info. What would be the advantage of using the 2001 motor? Does it give up any torque down low with the VVT? I really like your car Savington! What rear wing are you running and what spring rates and ride highets are you running? Thanks!

Savington's setup: Raceland coilovers as low as they'll go. Slammed hellaflush. (not really) |
