Question Swapping the diff over for drift events...

Hi All....

Quick question..

I have a 1.8 NA miata with an open diff.
I would like to drift it more.
This would ideally require a welded diff or LSD.
I do not have £350 for an LSD :(
I dont want to drive around daily on a welded diff.

My thoughts are: Could i buy another cheap open diff... weld it to high heaven.. then leave it in the garage until a drift event.
The eve' before (or weekend w.e) i would swap the open diff for the welded.. drive to the event.. rip it up.... drive home.. swap the welded out for the open for normal driving again.

1. How impossibru is it to change a diff this often do people think? Iv not changed one before and so i dont know if its a super huge job.. or just 2 hours under the car on stands

2. Do people think this is a good idea or a totally stupid one? (Yes i could save for an LSD and have done.. but that literally would take freakin ages im afraid)

3. thanks

Bro, tires don't wear out doing dorifto and definitely don't cost nearly $350 a set themselves.

he said 350 pounds, thats nearly enough money to buy a decent diff. You could always get that POS FC RX7 clutch pack that no one likes because its only good for drag racing and drifting.

If you're going to just **** it up, buy a whole 1.6 rear subframe and swap the whole thing in when you need it.
