Question Engine Identification

I have a 1990 miata that supposedly has the 1.8L in it.This might be a stupid question, but I have looked for the engine identification numbers everywhere, and can't figure out if its true. I'm pretty new to the Miata, former Honda lover. At least Hondas engine ID #s are right there on the tranny...

raised (cast) identification is at the back side of the head

easy way to identify is look at valve cover. raised letters = 1.8 sunken letters = 1.6

there are other differences, but imo that's easiest.

^ they pretty much hit it on the head.

Also Honda's stamp is on the block, next to the transaxle. I came from Hondas too :gay:
