Ben 12-02-2007 09:02 PM

Gorrila Glue will fix those right up man, no problem. Nothing wrong with those they just need some TLC.

miata mounts looks like they'd be really easy to make our own, kind of like this.

those mounts look like the ones i pulled out of my car. Talk about a sloppy motor.

That's an interesting idea, but the fact that the mount has a direct path from one end to the other (single stud through) probably makes it transmit a ton of vibration. It is still a cool, cheap idea and this is not a bad idea for the diy'er on a budget. For another suggestion, you should be able to get casting urethane from McMaster-Carr for like $30 or so which is cheaper than the stuff the guy used from the NICO forums.

Those look very similar to the ones pulled of my car.

One completely torn in two and the other well on it's way.

Just an FYI but I melted my driver-side one after one weekend of tracking it. Well, it got soft from the heat from the down pipe and it got squished, causing my engine to sag to the left.

magnamx-5 12-03-2007 12:49 PM

Another reason why i went with ceramic caoting on my setup. ;)

neogenesis2004 12-03-2007 12:58 PM

2nd that, I even ceramic coated the inside of the motor :0

ldp82 12-03-2007 01:19 PM

both of mine looked like the one on the right just about to fall apart.

hustler 12-03-2007 02:17 PM

how are those mm engine mounts? I bought a set assuming some real discomfort.

I wonder if melting mounts is a problem for everyone, or just the FM kit. I assume the bell DP has the same route.

levnubhin 12-03-2007 02:40 PM

My motor mount didnt look like it suffered any heat damage. It just straight up broke.

NVH - Yes, yes, assume great discomfort. The rearview mirror is a blur when you get on the gas. The steering wheel and floor vibrates but the shifts were rock solid, like an S2000 if you ever felt how that shifts.

I can imagine my downpipe glowing bright red after on the gas, full throttle, for 20 seconds at a time just cooking everything. I had to replace the mount and a poly exhaust hanger since the last event. I HATE replacing engine mounts!

I've come to the realization that tracking a car is brutal on everything on the car. I swear, my car is on jackstands and I'm replacing components more than it's on the ground. It get old sometimes, but then blowing by normally faster cars on the track makes it all worth while.

magnamx-5 12-03-2007 03:02 PM

The mmr's do have more NVH but i have tunned out alot of it with MS so far. Strangely accel was not one of those areas for me more caosting etc. I hope to have the rear view viewable at all times before long :D. Shifts are solid and alot more percise (no more missing the 2nd-3rd shift under high laod etc). The harshness felt on the posterior etc with spirited driving is not to horrible though, so i wouldn't down grade them for comfort to much on my scale of things.

You are hard core! I went back to the competition mounts. I couldn't take it anymore.

Stealth97 12-03-2007 03:31 PM

My mounts at 143k looked just like that. I went with MMR's, but I did not notice any additional vibration, but they also went in with a new balanced motor so who knows.
