Default Quiet Exhaust ?

As the title states, I'm looking for a quiet (ish) exhaust for cheap.
So far my options have been:
$50 stock NA exhaust (50k miles)
$200 Bosal Kit from Rockauto.com

Leaning towards the stock NA exhaust, but if the bosal system is stainless/will last longer I may be more inclined to go this route. Unfortunately, googling around did not answer that question as no one seems to say exactly what this specific exhaust is made of.
The car has a manzo catback now, and I quite hate it with the hardtop on. And it's rattling anyway. Clutch job means I have to pull the exhaust so I'm better off replacing it. The bosal kit includes a new midpipe and all the gaskets.

Anyone have any input?

If it's stock, buy the $50 stock exhaust (if it's in good condition). We know how a stock exhaust sounds. We don't know how a "bosal" kit sounds.

Save your pennies.

Yeah it's stock. keeping it slow for a while. it's too much fun revving past 4k and barely going anywhere.
Saving pennies indeed. Wheels aren't cheap. And neither is a set of Vmaxx's.

I am all for spending money, but without it being a known quantity I wouldn't be able to personally justify it. Especially if you will just be pulling it off in two years to replace it with a turbo exhaust.

That's pretty much how I see it. I would hate to spend $300 on an ISR exhaust for the thing to be useless in a year or two. or for the car to get wrecked (pls no).

I had a bosal muffler on my old NA6(polished stainless), sounded good actually. Quiet. Bosal is reputable.

During my quick google search. Advanced Auto PArts lists the downpipe as aluminized steel.

Don't over think it. The oem exhaust is perfectly fine for what you're after. I agree with 18psi that you could probably sell yours or trade for a stock exhaust.

Another vote for OEM. The Bosal would be basically equivalent to the OEM, and OEM will cost you less, and you can probably recoup the same $50 you spent on it when you get a new exhaust later.

I have a turbo car, so I know the amazing muffling turbos have.
But i love the slowness of the car too much. So stock exhaust it is.

It's a bit aged, shows it, and no one wants it because it's a pos ebay exhaust.

I could probably sell it afterwards sure. But it's rattling and I don't know if it's muffler packing or hitting something on the car. I can find out when I take it out though.

this moves me to the: almost anything but stock crew.

FYI: I'm pretty sure the bosal is just a stock replacement, so might as well find one for free if you want to go back to stock.

you misunderstood
the miata is stock. I have a cobalt SS turbo as a daily. So I know how amazing turbos can be at quieting exhaust.
Stock exhaust for the stick Miata for sure.

and yea bosal is oe replacement. But it’s new, not used, so probably going to last longer than stock.

I just put this exhaust on my 96 miata

SRS STAINLESS STEEL CATBACK EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR 90-97 MAZDA MIATA - ORDER TOTAL US $212.49 Free shipping

had to grind off the bolts on the back of the Cat but the new exhaust sounds awesome... so much bass

I also just threw out the old stock muffler, the muffler was fine but the pipes were rusted out, the exhaust came with a little baffle but it is not really loud so I didn't use it
the bracket shifted when I was test driving it, melting the bumper a little bit

Picked up a mint stock exhaust from a low mile (60k) car. Has minimal signs of wear and only small rust around muffler area. Should do fine for the time being. $50. Even has the polished tip.

youd think with three mufflers it would be quiet enough...

look up that exhaust on YouTube. It’s not that quiet. Manzo I have on now is fine without the hardtop. But the drone with the hardtop makes the gf never want to be in the car.
