Topspeed Pro-1 Exhaust

So my 8 year old OBX exhaust is past the point of saving, and I wanted to go up a bit from my 2.25" diameter. All of the local muffler shops here wanted $500 to $700ish for a mild steal 2.5" exhaust system, so I have been keeping my eyes open online for a custom used setup or something new. I was on ebay and came across this:

http://i.ebayimg.com/20/!B5Oj5hgEGk~...vk6vw~~_12.JPG

It's called a Topspeed Pro-1 exhaust, and they confirmed with me that it is a full 2.5" exhaust all the way through. It actually seems quite unique from the pictures. The resonator is located in the place where the muffler sits, and a tiny ass muffler is where the tip is. I'm not expecting much muffling, but that's fine. Looking for good flow. I'll post up my impressions once I get it installed.

Here's a link to it. Seems like they're popping up on ebay more and more

And not to confuse it with this pile of junk that goes from 2" to 2.5"

It seems to be a replica of the old RSR exhaust.

Will be loud. Will get dudes in your car.

Yay!

Honestly why not save up a little more and get a 3inch Enthuza exhaust?

Get ARTech to build you one! His exhausts look fantastic. V-band = win

Bought this because it is uber cheap. This car is so not a necessity in my life, I'm lucky if I put 2000kms on it a year. Therefore, my justifiable budget is very very small.

Its basically an exact replica of the greddy ti-c. They are pretty loud but a good deal. A few guys on cr.net are running them. They do hang very low.

+1 on hang very low. I remember seeing pictures of them almost touching the ground on non-slammed cars.

Well I suppose it's a good thing then that my car is minimally lowered. Balls cock.

If this is designed like the Greddy TI-C, I believe you need to remove your rear tie bar and grind off the passenger side bracket. Hopefully I'm mistaken, though.

Well I just installed in my car, and everything went really smoothly. Took about 45 mins to get the old one out and put the new one in. Everything fit really well, and no banging on anything like my old OBX did. Also turbo spools up so much quicker with a 2.5" exhaust over the 2.25... can't believe it. But holy fak this thing is loud. It's just a really really low sound, and there is no muffling going on here. It's just two resonators.

Wow, just confirmed what I was looking for...I'm about to buy one of these exhausts along with some other bits to move my turbo kit install along.

dustinb 11-03-2010 07:03 PM

As others have said it will not fit with a rear brace. I had to remove my racing beat rear box brace but I have a roll bar so no big deal. If you have a factory brace back there you will have to probably grind off the mount. And it doesn't hang low at all. I would definitely buy it again.

It does hang very low, I'm using this on my car.
Great sound, and that's the reason I bought it.

When I ran it on N/A, it was too loud, but after installing my rotating exhaust damper (aka turbo) it went down to a very nice level.

Cheap as hell, and stainless steel, so it's a win-win.

BUT, if you have the lower rear brace, it will get in the way.

Fireindc 11-04-2010 04:57 AM

Guys that have this, please get us a soundclip. Looks like a viable option for a cheap turbo exhaust.

Loki79 11-04-2010 05:01 AM

Been planning to get one for the manufacturer ever since I bought it. Just never get around to it.
Now it has a much lower volume because of the turbo, but I'll try to get one out soon.

And it even has the ricer look! :D

There's some pics of the rear brace issue here, why would they design it like that?

Well it certainly has minimal bends and there's no chance it's going to hit the axles. Also, the 1990 and 1991 miata's did not have that rear brace or mount on it. I will get vid's of sound clips up tonight.

Just FYI, 60mm is a little less than 2-3/8".
