Turbo exhaust

I have a Borla Dual that came off the last car I had. I thought of running it on my set up. However there's a guy over at CR.net interested in buying it, that money will fund a turbo exhaust.

The place that I have to do the exhaust does good work at a good price. So I thought Id get rid of what I have an go for Brain's set up https://www.miataturbo.net/build-threads-57/y8s-put-his-spec-all-over-me-i-liked-exhaust-build-48215/

Or go a bit nuts and have a straight pipe :D

yay or nay?

y8s 07-09-2010 03:39 PM

bignaflow

Braineack 07-09-2010 03:41 PM

after having the borla duals, youll hate a loud muffler...do what i did.

18psi 07-09-2010 03:42 PM

after all the exhaust threads we've had over the past month you're still unsure? holy shit dude.

YES for FAGNAflow. Its thuper

Braineack 07-09-2010 03:46 PM

Borla duals....

try to hear my exhaust:

same muffler N/A:

lolz

buffon01 07-09-2010 04:07 PM

Brain what exactly should I try to listed to? Im at work and I cant really put the volume up. Anyway where do you recommend to buy the muffler?

18- I know  I needed reassurance

18psi 07-09-2010 04:15 PM

performance peddler

call em and and get the discount too

johnmatt 07-09-2010 04:16 PM

Get a summit 3" resonator with a magnaflow 3" muffler and have that bitch turn down and the diff. That's what I'm going to do at least if I can ever get ahold of my buddy with his welder

you cant hear it, that's the point ;)

I'd say go with at LEAST a 5x8x18 muffler, or the big boy 5x11x22 like me and y8s. I'm still happy everytime I start the car and I dont set off alarms in my parking garage.

jbrown7815 07-09-2010 05:00 PM

My car is the opposite of Brain's

Braineack 07-09-2010 05:06 PM

I bet mine makes more power than yours too, HAAAAAAAAAA

SlideRuler 07-09-2010 06:05 PM

anyone have any sound clips of a FM Hydra Miata with the $1,000 3" turboback exhaust they sell?

Nobody here is stpid enough or rich enough to have that...

I can understand not being rich enough, but whoa, stupid? maybe instead of blowing your chump change on a CX Racing intercooler and ebay turbo etc etc you should've saved up and stop calling people who do save up, 'stupid'. Bet you won't call me stupid a year from now. I'd rather wait patiently with a slow Miata than put less-than-stellar parts in it.

18psi 07-09-2010 06:59 PM

I'm keeping a close eye on you:squint:

Bet you won't call me stupid a year from now. I'd rather wait than drive a ghetto setup.

Why spend anywhere close to $1000 on an exhaust when I can make my own, and when people who can't make their own (aka you) can get the same exhaust for way less from fanrictors on here (artech, turbotim.) my "ghetto setup" is working very well, don't be a jealous hater cause I can make the exact same stuff your spending 5k on for less than half the price.

wittyworks 07-09-2010 07:09 PM

Sorry no more off topic posts. I just put on a 18x6 magnaflow on instead of the straight pipes. And its sooooo much nicer. I know straight pipes are badass, but if you dd the car, it will get annoying, about three months and I couldn't stand it and I was always worried about getting pulled over for noise

18psi 07-09-2010 07:09 PM

I love how he keeps editing his post.
If you're baller enough to dump unnecessary cash on shit then be my guest.
Most around here tend to have better things to do with their money than waste 1k on exhaust

or cheaper venders, not that I don't like the people at FM, BUT I'd venture Abe/ARTech would make you a manifold, dp, and full exhaust for the same price (depending on how much fancy your routing is).

I'll call you stupid now and a year from now when I'm making 300+hp on my cheap and ebay stuff. I've got less than 1k in my turbo system total that's mani, turbo, bov, exhaust. Skillz over dollars anyday

buffon01 07-10-2010 01:19 PM

Who's that stupid ass noob, slideruler? We should have a rule against fucking drifters that bring nothing to the table but questions about "baller" shit. I bet he would drop ~$250 on caliper covers

Im going with a full 3" DP and Exhaust and the Bignaflow muffler. Now that's baller :giggle:

TonyV 07-11-2010 11:30 AM

Dude, your in Miami....

Swim/raft over to Miami Mufflers. 3" straight from DP, into a magnaflow. Stupid Cheap...

IN FACT, they may still have the jig from when me, Phil, and like 2-3 others had a lil GB action going...

Don't remember exact, but I want to say $200ish...sounds good, flows well, simple/cheap/effective and local.

Edit: You can search on here. Me/Phil posted pics/vid in a thread... try Miami Mufflers, or exhaust interest, exhaust GB, sound clip whatever...pretty sure it's Phil that posted the actual pics/vid if you want to look under his s/n....Or just hit him up as he prob has them laying around.

levnubhin 07-11-2010 11:34 AM

It was just over $300 for the exhaust. Still a great deal.

a) y8s labor rate is exhorbitant

b) brain'z exhaust has 3 mufflers, two downpipes, and 1.7 midpipes

Braineack 07-12-2010 11:06 AM

Well I started with the enthuza $470, and a test pipe $65.

then I needed to repair and replace the muffler after wiping out my tail, so another $80 muffler and $100 to a shop for welding and a bend.

Then I added a resonator: $30

Then I had to repair it after hitting a manhole cover on an unpaved street: $60

Then I added a metal core cat: $200

Then I replaced the muffler again: $99.81 + bends and hangers: $60

so around $1155. lol.

my DP was $399 and I only have had this one since fitting the BEGi manifold.

18psi 07-12-2010 11:09 AM

My exhaust is worth well over 2,000 because I welded "JDM" into the piping.

levnubhin 07-12-2010 11:09 AM

lol fail

You're looking at a solid 1500. Change "magnaflow" to "JDM supeR flow" and you're looking at an easy 4500. 5k if you powdercoat it pink.

+1k for a titanium tip.
