Default Turbo Miata > SRT8 Charger Hemi

Like a 100* here today and of course my daily driver AC craps out this morning so I'll take the Miata out.

So I roll up to a light and there is this older guy in a nice silver SRT8 Charger. I cant stop beating on the Miata because its just so much fun, so I leave the light in a spirited manor and guess who jumps in front of me, I floor it in 1st, take the lead by a car length and increase the lead slowly. I has the top down and kept looking back to see the expression on his face...Priceless. At the top of 4th I let out and he's 3 cars back or so. Roll down the road and a few miles later we stop at a light and he rolls up and says nice car, I can't help my self and return with "that thing got a Hemi?" I drive off.

Up on the interstate an hour later or so and I'm cruising along @65 and this G35 is on my ***. I let him follow for a bit than I move over and he "tries" to pass I was really impressed the miata does not fell that strong from 60 up but was enough to shut down his fly by.

Than I woke up, was vivid dream, I would never drive like that on public roads.

Nicely played.

Congrats. I'm too chicken to take the Miata in this kind of heat, seeing as my cooling system hasn't ever been quite right since I bought it. Probably time for a reverse flush with the garden hose...once the drought lets up enough to be able to use the hose without fear of a neighbor turning me in.

Nice kill on the SRT8!

I had a guy in one pull up to me on the highway and motion "lets race". I had to give him the "no no no" with my finger. ******* tires rub when I just hit boost, I can just imagine a blowout.

I posted a few months back about lining up with a Charger "Daytona" and beating him by a county or two, but that's just the normal V8. The SRT ones say 425hp, but curb 4200lbs according to google. He's need in the realm of 440whp to match up. 3 car-lengths sounds at 90-100mph right as he's got traction control and probably only shifted twice.

Hey Mike, I stopped by the bar around midnight last night after some cosmic bowling and you weren't there???

Last week when I took my car to the drag strip I lined up next to this guy who had a Chrysler 300C SRT8. Since we ran together, I saw his time which was a 13.2 at 103MPH. I got back in the staging lane and asked him how much it weighs and what's done to it. He said he's not sure on the weight, he thinks it's like 4600lbs. He said it's all stock, except for a different air box and a power programmer. It was a 6.1 liter Hemi said to have 425 HP.

air box and a programmer actually does a lot for the new Hemi, I have heard 30-40hp over stock. The Unichip is a pupular one with the Chrysler crowd and has had great results.

Ya i was out today in the miata. On the way to work some guy in a GTO decides he going to try and pass me. We where both already doing 80 on the highway. Popped it into fourth and we were literally dead even till the top of 5th. Maybe 120ish? I kept looking over and laughing during the pull. He was so pissed. I immediately slowed down to 65 and he felt it necessary to carry his speed but the deed was already done. Not bad for a 1.6L. I would think a v8 would be able to pull easily up top like that.

Last week at the drag strip I saw something that blew my mind. I saw a Neon SRT 4 with a HUGE intercooler. So I'm like "whatever" this guy will probably run like a 14.7 like everyother neon that shows up. BTW, I hate Neon SRT4's. Driving something front wheel drive with 4 doors is against my religion. But anyway...this big intercooled Burnt Orange Neon went 12.0 in the quarter mile. Every shift he made it backfired so loud you woulda thought he threw a 1/2 stick of dynamite out of the car. I think it had some Nitrous on it. But DAMN! 12 seconds flat at 117MPH!

12 flat is pretty quick for anything, but yes low 11s/high 10s is fast. Looking at the trap speed that SRT4 had 11s in it.

Anything under 10 is making silly power.

Vash-

Hummm... Next thing you know he's going to start telling everyone his "vtec" controller is not working properly and he's not hitting vtec lol

Nice kill, sir.

All those v8 guys think about is HP, but they seem to forget how much more they weigh compared to everyone else on the road. Good 'ole american pork.

why the hell do people always think a car that is quick is using nitrous?
ive had more than 10 encounters now when after getting beat some idiot is like "DAAAMN, THAT THING IS FAST ILL BET YOUR USING NITROUS HUH"....

and 12 flat is not ungodly fast, 12 is the new 13.5 in the drag racing world
but thats a matter of opinion so no offense
