Turbo is in process!
 

It is finnally coming around. I left the cell phone at home and bolted up the manifold and turbo.
I was excited that the turbo bolted up nicely I didn't have to make any cuts or revisions to the body for space. There were some expected hold ups with rusty nuts and bolts. But over all, not bad.

Although I have to check my other motor for the water line. I think the other motor has a different heater core return line.
Anyways, I would have the intercooler on, but with the heat I.... You know vomiting, headache, and bowel issues. I thought I better set in the A/C the rest of the day. I know TMI.
I was rather perturbed that I was in the house sick when it started raining. That was like missing the ice-cream truck. LOL

So far I haven't had anything unexpected except the gasket issue. Which was ok, since going to the store inspired me to buy a turbo blanket. YAY! And also a gasket that was a waste of money.

I should of took some pictures of my progress, and bloody nuckels. LOL. I'll try to take some from here out.

Friday I'll try to get the GM sensor bung welded to the IC pipes, bolt the DP on, and figure out the oil pan situation.

If you have any advice that would help I would appreciate it.

Go slow when you tap the pan, and make sure youre not so high with the fitting that you cant slip the hose on.

I'm currently in the process of searching "Tapping the oil pan". Flying miata uses 3/8 pipe thread, And a 37/64 bit. Did anyone have to remove the a/c or powersteering hoses?

I used a 3/8 fitting as well and used a 9/16 bit. That was a friggin mission and a half, make sure you find a 37/64 - 100% or you will have a very hard time getting the tap in.

I had to remove nothing when I did mine.

I recommend drilling a pilot hole first, then going in with the larger bit. There is nothing wrong with drilling at a slight angle. Just make sure you tap straight afterwards.

If you want to make it easy to drill a pilot hole without having the bit go all over the place, get a hammer and that needle ended instrument and just hit the spot you plan to drill with it.

I tappped the pan last night.
I couldn't get the right fitting, so I got one that will work. I was drilling the 3/8 and everything was beautiful. Then I had to drill a little more and got the drill a little off. It flaked a chunk out. But it didn't mess up the hole. Whweooooo!

Anyways, it is on. Waterlines are hooked up. Now it is time for the Intercooler install.

I am on my way slowly but surely. I can't find the camera. Sorry not pics yet.

Well, I gues I shall wait till tommorrow to finish my turbo. My girlfriend just called and said she bought lace panties from Victoria Secrets. And she forgot the top's.

I ran into problems tonight. The IC tubing is jacked. I am going to rig it tommorow, or else order new tubing from FM. I'll check pricing in the am.

I did get the air filter sheild installed. I have got to find the camera. I wounder if my girlfriends family borrowed it. I can't FIND IT ANY WHERE!

I guess the pictures will be of the finished product. I finnally finished everything. The IC tubes were bent around. So I chopped and spliced in tubing rated at 275 degrees with steel reinforcement. I was told I had 550cc injectors. But found out the are 440cc.
I installed new seals on them.

I did't cut or splice the harness though. I went to fry's and bought 0.062 connectors with wire splicers. I threw away the plastic connectors. And took the splicers and hit the end of them with a hammer. Attached it to the end of the RC connector wires, plugged them into factory connectors and tapped them up.

Is anyone running 440's???? Wil they support 250hp. That is my finnal goal.

performed some calculations at rc website and does not appear that the 440s will take you to 250 whp on stock fuel pressure without passing recommended duty cycle of 80%. In my opinion you should never pass 80% duty cycle. I have learned from experience that duty cycle and an idiot tuner that reloads a stock igintion map will blow up your motor. However this is just a calculator and you may want to look to someone with more experience in this area. I had a set of 440s on my miata but cannot remember what duty cycle they were running and I was only at 225whp on previous setup.

depends on how far you want to push them, sr20 guys can make 250whp on 370cc

Eveytime I install the injectors, a O'ring breaks. One more o'ring and I should be finished.
