I have a '97 oil pump and can post pics of the mount there for the OBDII sensor if that would help.

It should be the same for the 1.8 NA guys, not sure about the 1.6 folks. Your picture sounds easier to get then me taking off my sensor.

Oh yeah, I forgot the OBD-II NAs got it as well. Guess that answers the early 1.8 question. So, will it fit on the 1.6 is the question...

I'd love to see some pictures. Oh, and how thick is it? I know it's pretty thin, but are we talking 3mm, 2mm, what?

edit It looks like they may have used a different sensor on the OBD-II NA vs. the NB- It'd be nice to see pix of both.

Here is the front of the oil pump... the chamfered hole on the lower right is the mount for the sensor. there is just one screw.



here is it mounted up. Excuse the mess, but I have a power steering leak and cant seem to find a pump eliminator pulley.

Ok, thanks. So it looks like a 90° piece of metal attaches to the block, and then the sensor attaches to that- this confirms my research. I believe that the NB sensor is a one-piece, hopefully that will be confirmed or disproved shortly.

I don't think the 1.6 OP has that hole- I'll get down and check for sure tonight.

As to your P/S pulley dilemna- it looks to me like you do not have A/C, so you can simply remove the belt altogether.

I'll take a picture of it for you when it stops raining. It is a single piece of plastic with the sensor integrated into the mount.

If you look closeley on the top the bracket for the A/C compressor is there. It gets too hot in atlanta to ditch it. The angle of the picture is misleading, that belt is actually paralel to the ground.

Ah, yes. The position of the timing marks makes it clear.

Ok, so the hole in the OP that the sensor bolts to is below and slightly inboard of the hole that the A/C bracket mounts to. Good to know.
