Turn signals not functioning
I'm retarded with wiring and I've been banging my head against this one for a while, figured I'd see if you've got any ideas...
I've a '93 5speed with cruise control and power windows. A couple of months back I was in a three-car accident (rear ended by a jackass, hit thep erson in front of me) and my turn signals got destroyed (among other things). I won't go into semantics but essentially my insurance is sh*t and I had to do a lot of the repair work myself. So, I replaced the turn signal assembly's with OEM Mazda. Long story short, the bulbs function perfectly... driving lights, etc., but when I try and use the turn signal nothing happens. I get the audible clicking in the cabin, but the lights stay solid. Green arrows also don't flash on the dash. My 4 way flashers also don't work. Of note, previous owner did install an aftermarket electric horn, which I disconnected after the accident. Maybe this is the problem? Let me know if you guys have any ideas. |
Did you check the fuses? shorts in the wiring?

Most cars have a simple clicker for the turn signals. The Miata doesn't. There's actually a turn signal controller box that incorporates some electronics. I'll bet it got fried if your wiring was shorted to ground. Normally, they're 100% reliable.
FLASHER UNIT (HE01-66-830) - $68.98 - HE0166830 They're not cheap (about $70), so it would be wise to ohm out all the wiring going to this little box and verify you don't have any shorts first. |
Thanks for the info, I'll check the box when I get home from work tonight and keep you guys updated.

Thanks Hornet. Having same issue and that might be the problem.. They're working on & off periodically.

On my car the left turn signal wasn't working 99.9 percent of the time but everything else was. The right 1 was working fine. And my driving lights were working fine.
I replaced the flasher and now all my turn signals work perfect. |
