Yep, im finally in college, and my poor car is 5 hrs away at home under a car cover. Not to mention my g/f just bought me the finish panel im missing, so I have to wait to put it on . It was a great preasent tho

Im going for mechanical engineering... any advice you guys want to give me? (I know there are alot of engineers here). Im going to work with the FSAE team too, that should help me with my car fix.

Anyone here go to PITT?

Hehe. My first year of college I was going ME and joined FSAE. I dropped out of FSAE after a few weeks. Here the program was run by a bunch of DAs. This is my 3rd year of college and so far, I'm keeping a 3.06 GPA. I will say this. Master calculus. When they assign HW, do it. Do it all. If you don't understand it, have a staring contest with it. J/K. If you get stuck get help. I though I could read and read and try and fail and eventually I'd figure it out. In the past that always worked. Wrong. I failed the hell out of the first test and dropped Cal 1 and took it again the next semester.

I'm taking cal4, DE, dynamics, Thermo I, and Physics 3 w/lab this semester. THIS stuffs hard compared to cal 1, which I though was impossible my first semester. It only gets harder. Don't get behind.

yeah study groups are key. my gpa tanked my first two years but came up to straight As for a few quarters before graduation.

Thats alot guys. Im in engineering only floors at my dorm, so the study groups wil be eaisly accesable. Ill also be sure to use the calc tutoring.

I'm going for mechanical engineering as well only i'll be at UCF. A minor is a good idea, find something you like and use it to release stress

It is going to be weird telling people I got my major in ME and minored in music.

Sorry to hear you'll be far away from your car. I hope to get mine "completely" finished before I transfer out.

It's funny how some people are just born with a predisposition for math. I fucked my way through liberal arts & finite math.

I was born with a predisposition and love for writing research papers apparently.

The glass is flawed and must be re-engineered, the semi atomic particles were miss-aligned when a solar flare sent cosmic waves across the galaxy when the glass was produced. It must be recalibrated to specification prior to filling the glass.

Man I feel like a complete slacker when I read this thread. (BTW I am a complete slacker) I stayed away from the engineering floor in the freshman dorm. I saw those people 16 hours each day, why do I want to go back to the dorm with them? I also didn't do a single homework problem, but I don't remember anything now that 6 years have passed since graduation. It was "difficult" compared to what my friends were doing for classes, but you'd be surprised how even the dumb students end up graduating if they stick to it. So...yeah that's my advice. Stick to it. And stay on FSAE, I wish to God that I could have raised enough $ for that project!

EDIT: Oh, get on a first name basis with the shop techs. I learned much from them.

My toughest course was thermo fliud mechanics II. Man, I really sweated through that one.

My advice would be to concentrate on school and not worry about cars for the next five years.

Getting your degree and getting a good job is way more important than spending money on your car.

Also go to class and do your homework. Don't skip class, don't do it, even the liberal arts stuff.
