Maybe you should start a headlight post so I could possibly get an answer to my question?

Fireindc 04-08-2014 04:52 PM

I'm pretty sure you got your answer already, OP.

OBEY. THE. BUZZER.

Seriously though, get a video and we'll tell you what's going on. I assumed she meant the fuel pump, because my walbro 255 could sure as hell be mistaken for a buzzer at times, lol.

Just because it doesn't have an alarm doesn't mean it doesn't have security. And if the PO did it right, it might take pulling the car apart to find the parts he installed. Custom security doesn't do shit if you can find it and disable it. It's probably something like a time delayed relay circuit hiding somewhere, blocking another component from working properly until the buzzer ends.

If you can't do electrical diag, you might want to farm this out to someone else. You're basically going to have to troubleshoot it like a no start while the buzzer is on and see whether you have signal and ground to the pump, the injectors, the starter relay, sensors, etc. etc.

Have someone else man the key, and poke your head around the engine bay and listen for anything that activates after the buzzer turns off. Start there.

Or just deal with it and OBEY THE BUZZER.

You got what you paid for.

it's incredibly easy. i did it in my parking lot after going out to a dead battery after leaving my parking lights on when i got to work.

After thinking about it, I realized that the diagram I scribbled on a piece of paper was a mod that simply turned the lights off when the key is turned off.

In the winter, I never turn off the lights on my Suby. They go off when I shut off the car and come back on when I start it again. I like that.

p.s. My smart phone isn't smart enough to know that I meant 'wire' and not 'write' and I'm too lazy to care.

Braineack 04-10-2014 02:08 PM

Fun Fact: I can't sit the with lights on in my subie for more than 5min else the battery gets drained enough i can't start the car.

Since buying the car in Dec of 2012, I've had to clutch start it about 20 times now.

Leafy 04-10-2014 02:10 PM

Your subie lets you run the lights with the car off? I guess with the key in the on position you can. Mine shut off when you shut the car off. Its really nice.

Braineack 04-10-2014 02:27 PM

if I first key on to acc, they'll turn on. they turn off with key off. so i never flip them, that makes me lazy with other cars... but yeah i need a new battery in the subbie, im actually curious what voltage i get after a long drive, i bet it has a bad cell and only stores 10v.

I routinely unplug the buzzer in cars I'm tuning on the dyno.

I think I was on the dyno for all about 15 seconds before the guys at DIY unplugged my buzzer when I was last getting tuned. Honestly it had never really bothered me before, now it gets done as soon as I buy a miata. I also don't understand the need to hookup the buzzer to lights. I have never used parking lights or whatever they are called, and I have never been stupid enough to leave my barn door lights up and on.

Thanks for reminding me. I need to unplug that fucking buzzer.

This. Are you maybe hearing the fuel pump come to pressure?!?

To be fair, it's Scott we're talking about. I'm not surprised at all that he would leave his barn-door lights on.

I can unplug the buzzer one-handed while sitting in the driver's seat now.
