Just wondering if any people on this forum have experience with these tires(T1R, BFG, SPT). I got 3k from my azenis and can't afford to do that again. I have heard very mixed reactions with the toyos as some people said they have a **** sidewall that is really unresponsive, while other people say they are amazing.

And please don't go "OMFG YOU GO TOOO FASSTT!1!" I have already been called an idiot on m.net and that was enough. I understand that I was pushing a bit hard for the street and am going to adjust my driving style accordingly as I already took one car off of a cliff totaling it (although my front shocks were in for repair and I had 180 spring rates up front and 330 in the rear).

Any other suggestions for tires that will still have some kind of grip (not expected to be like the azenis) but wear a bit slower will be appreciated.

I feel you on the azenis. My fronts are totally warn and I have tire rubber splatter all over the bottom of my fenders. The rears are fine though. I really want to get some rs2s but it seems like they are sold out everywhere in every size.

i run T1R's on my gutted turbo car and love them but i prefer a softer sidewall with the car being so light. I used to run Azenis and it was really hard to put the power down and I gave up some grip cuz the tires seemed to skip across bumps. the T1R's are great in the rain and deal with standing water very well.

on my normal weight Miata I run Advan A043's and love them but they are a lil pricey. great in the wet too.

They had like 8 left a couple days ago.

my Falkens lasted 5 years. Granted they probably have under 5k on them.

MY BFG gforce sports are on track to last 40 or so K miles give or take a few K for gratiutous burnouts. But I feel after i year the rubber seems to get a little harder, than it was when new. That being said i will either go with a RS2 a DR or a set of the Gforcesports agian next year, esp if i buy some wider rims for the back. Sidewalls are great steering is great and overall grip is great esp for a 225-50 r15

Dependent on your budget, the two hot street tires these days are the Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R and the Yokohama Advan AD07. They are pretty much dominating the street tire autocross classes.

BUT...They are going to wear just as fast as Azenis.

It sucks with tires, but you can't have your cake and eat it too. You either get awesome grip or awesome treadwear. You can't have both.

A good compromise to look at would be the Kumho MX or the Kumho ASX. The MX will have better grip and stiffer sidewall, but will wear faster. The ASX has a softer sidewall and less grip but will last much longer. Another bonus is the ASX is cheap.

I run ASXs on my BMW for daily use. They seem to be working really well.

Thanks for the info. I'd guess that the G-force sport would be a bit less grippy than the T1-R. Anyone have the g-force t/a kdw? And would the softer T1-R sidewall make it a better tire for rough canyon driving? I was thinking about maybe running the 215/45/15 of the T1-R for a bit of grip over rough surfaces, any thoughts? I have a 15x7 wheel.

And anyone run the SPT? I'd like to go with the MX or RS2, but among other things (RS2 out of stock) I think I'd just end up eating those up too quickly. I had MX on the car when I first got the wheels and went through them in a little over 5k. Maybe if I slow down a bit I may be able to get some more miles out of those, but I'd really like to get something that will hopefully last over 10k, and I'm willing to sacrifice some grip to get there.

unfortunately. I don't like them that much, they don't have that much grip, but they will last you the 10k you're wanting.

215/45/15 T1R - special size and has reinforced side walls very responsive - I ran T1s then T1r now on my first set of azenis.. The T1rs are great tires I've just been wanting to try out the azenis. I've ran ~4 sets of T1S now and loved them, T1R is basically the same tire but better in wet.

If you went through the MX's in 5k then even the T1r won't last you too long. Either get used to spending money on tires or get some 100k mile bricks on there. Well, you could drive less agressively, but what fun would that be?

I loved my RS2s on my stock wheels, and I wore out y8s azenis on the c8s...both were great tires...

SpeedF50 I hear what your saying.....from my personal experiance my tires (regardless of rating) never last more then 4k till treadbar was eating....and I'd still milk them till like 6-7k where they are pretty much slicks and chording...(dumb I know). but these days I drive canyons less so my last set's of azenies are lasting a lil longer. my next sets will be RS2's (for both the RX8 and the miata) cause they have the size I want in both 15' and 18' and I hear nothing but good things about them as street/canyon tires.....buying 5 sets of tires for the miata a year gets pretty expensive, and buying 3-4 set for the RX8 on top of that makes it unbearable....so yeah I've been toning down a bit for cost. The hard thing is finding a deceant tire these days...Azenies are feeling down on grip to me.......guess i need to take a break or start buying R comps.....

dude....your telling me....I talk to people who are like ..."im soo mad, I only got 20-30k miles outta my last set of tires..."....first thing I respond with is "**** you man, I only get 6k max, and thats miliking them down to chords"....but running canyons kills tires quick. ...I dont do burnouts and I'm not a Drifter....but full grip driving apparently kills tires.

amen, I too many fun back roads here in the Appalachians. Funny thing, my right front is worn slightly more than my left front, but both individually are wearing evenly. I must take more left turns fast than right ROFLNASCAR.
