Weight reduction, rollbar, WTF?!
So yesterday I finished installing my $100 HDHCDD bar:giggle: and after I was done I took my car out for a test drive with out the pass seat, back carpet, plastics and all the little stuff you have to take out to do the install. The car was way faster somehow and I doubt is the 50lbs if that that I lost from seat and stuff cause the rollbar alone was probably 50lbs. And I know I'm not dreaming cause my car was burning up second without even trying. So WTF is going on?

Chassis isn't flexing in the rear as much and you're just putting the power down better would be my guess.

Honestly, cold air is so over rated. Like it would have to be such a massive difference in air temperature to have any real noticeable effect. It's unreal how stiff these bars can make our cars. I just installed one in a friends 92 turbo miata and pretty much straightened the car with it.

Same temperature. I was driving it the day before and it was in the 70s as well

wet road?

someone aired your tires to 50psi in the middle of the night

Are you really that clueless? My IAT's can vary 18 degrees from day to night.
Hot afternoon in traffic 104F peak, cruising at 110kph 80F. Air temps make a huge difference, and no your roll bar hasn't made your car faster, I doubt "chasis flex" (with all the torque miatas make) is likely either. Road was prolly dirty or your tires are alittle more worn out then they were yesterday ;) |
Idk I'm just confused but for sure my car felt better. Either way I'm not complaining

Actually cold air is much more likely than wight reduction or chassis flexing. I my self saw a turbo civic pick up 10hp with cold air intake on a dyno.

But did it have a performance intake before that? Maybe it was just a better flowing filter. With 2 years of dyno experience, and lots of befores/afters, on most applications there was little benefit on a cold air design over a really good short ram design.
As far as weight reduction I can clearly feel the difference between having a passenger or not, but something smaller than that I really can't notice at all. |

Btw, I did feel a diffrence with my Miata when I removed all the ac guts and compressor.

I think the ass dyno needs to be recalibrated

I think the real question here is how the hell did you get it for $100?
