Well the CAS struck again.Thank god for my 2 core rad.

Last week my cas O-ring caused my heater hose to split. So I limped her home with the smell of antifreeze all around me. 1 hr driving time.

I kind of think that the reason i didn't overheat was 1.then aluminum rad. 2. I had the heat on full blast. 3. the leak wasn't that big. The pressure wasn't as high while driving. When I turn the car off it leaks more, while its cooling down.

So I parked her and took the ins off. I'm goin to buy the 9 piece hose kit and fix it. So meanwhile I came across a 2000 mercury mountaineer with awd and the 5.0 lit. So now the miata has just officially has been retired as my DD. So i'm happy about that.

Retired for a broken hose? Seems a bit of a waste to me, or are their other issues? Those brass fittings on the heater core get damaged easily and then obviously won't seal well, are you sure it wasn't that? And how did a bad CAS o-ring cause a heater hose to split?

I haven't taking anything apart yet. And yes other things need my money attension for now. She's not retired, just resting.

Well from what i have read; tha cas o ring will allow oil to trickle out behind the head when the o ring starts to fail. Over time this will wear out a heatercore hose. The puddle that forms is coming from between the tranny and the back of the motor.

When i first got this car i remembered that whenever I got on her from a dig that i would smell oil. So i kinda new something was goin to happen.

AUTOZONE, Oriellys, napa, advanced, any part stores will carry those hoses. Becareful and cut the hoses off the Heatercore. Otherwise prying them will break the heater core and you don't want that project.

Also check the hose nipple on the back of the motor. It gets hard from heat and cracks sometimes.

Simple one afternoon fixes.:)

Good Luck!

Thanks again.

Well, yeah kinda. I beat on her alittle when i first got her.But now i only dig in about once a week when i drove it everyday. I've had her 5 months now.

I did 2 whole shots goin up against my buddys 08 challenger. I launched @ about 2900 -3100 rpms,And she spins alittle then just hooks right up.

I got him both times of the line but he caught me real quick, offcourse. But i had a car length on him both times. Anytime after that has been after i was rolling in 1st. I don't tach her up anymore and slip the clutch. I want my clutch to last me, But i will ring her out to 7k. (as it reads on the tack) when she asks me to.lol. I love this thing so i try to baby her most of the time.
