dude sweet, imma def. go out and get some cans of bronze tomorrow.

|
Bronze for sure
|
leave them.

my 6UL 15x9's were bronze but I noticed more atention to my car so I painted them black. The less atention you get means the less the cops will look at you, If you look like some kid in a civic with a body kit the cops will treat you like one.

This thread rocks...I'm in the same boat(black NA with flower power wheels), and strippin' em down and painting as soon as finals are over.
I'm pretty sure I'm going with black. Have some crappy photoshops if you care to see them. This guy did a really good job on the gunmetal: http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread...&highlight=wow but they didn't look as badass (too light) when I cropped them onto my car. Pics are on laptop at home, will post up if I ever make it home. |
Get rid of the damn center caps.
And bronze. |

alright, all you guys voting bronze need to provide some pics of a black NA with daisies. I couldn't find a good lookin' one when I was debating it a few weeks back.

Paint the spokes satin black, but paint the rim GunMetal, also the removable center cap, paint that gun metal too. Do it now, pussy.

Whatever you do, leave the lips the factory silver, or aluminum or chrome. Otherwise it will take from the rims. We painted the mazda letters red later. It changed everything. It made them look tough. Good Luck! |
^^I was going to do that, but paint it black all the way up to the outside ring, so there is no portion of the spoke going into the silver. Just black, with a solid silver ring.
Oh yeah, and sans center caps and ghey windblocker (should have a rollbar there soon!) |

1 can of color should be enough to do all 4 wheels. Then clear coat them with the wheel clear coat.
|
yeah, unmask the lip and clear the whole wheel.

Oh yeah, and sans center caps and ghey windblocker (should have a rollbar there soon!) I don't like the wind blocker either. If the letters are not to be painted, I would ditch the center caps. I need to get some pictures since he painted the Mazda letters Red. They look much meaner. |
White spokes, yellow center.

I've heard a lot of folks tell me any polished aluminum part will "quickly" oxidize...but I'm thinking about taking my chances, and just touching up paint and polish occasional.
|
leave them the wheels stock colored.
|
+1 on the BRONZE ... Post a pic of your new bronze wheels :)
the picture Pitt showed is one sweet example. |
oxidation gives aluminum a glossy layer that protects it from further oxidation. it may be harder to clean to a mirror shine.
Here's a set I just painted yesterday. Well stripped then painted. I still have to clean up the spokes but the paint isn't completely dry yet. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...h_IMAG0076.jpg edit: forgot the pic... |
