I have listed tools for an in car tool kit for long trips. There are severl parts that we may need, but I would like this topic to be about the tools only please. Look over my list. And add anything that may be missing. And why everyone should carry that tool. I may have missed alot of things so help me out. thanks

My BMW had a cool factory tool kit built in (but thet needed it) it was a slick little box that mounted to the inside of the trunk lid, it was never in the way-- and saw plenty of use...I should look around for a couple, they would be perfect for our little trunks.

ditch the 11, 16, and 21 and get an adjustable wrench. there's not many 11 or 16mm heads to wrench and the 21 is big enough that if something that size breaks, you aint gonna wanna fix it.

add also some bailing wire and zip ties. maybe trade electrical tape for duct tape.

I keep thinking about making a tool kit, but fortunatly every time my car has broken its been in my driveway or very, very close to home. But you're list isn't that bad.

Don't forget some mechanics gloves and maybe some towels to wipe things down, it can get HOT and messy in some situations.

Good additions, I will add them. I keep these tools in a small craftsman tool bag they fit in the trunk on the side away from the battery. Next to my can of fixaflat. And the 11mm is a must for my S/C intercooler tube clamps. and the 16 is what I have on my exhaust.

On a serious note, a paper clip near the diagnostics box in case you need to jumper leads in the box to check things out or limp home.

i have a bad *** led flashlight that you crank to make run, basic hand tools, a quart of oil, various hoses and clamps, disposable gloves, and zip ties. Most of i fits in the trunk in front of the spare tire. If you've never pulled your spare out, do it and check out the cavity in front of the spare to the side of the gas tank.
