What happens to my thermoswitch in a coolant reroute?
 

Okay so we all know that the standard coolant reroute that everyone on here does is absolutely awesome and kia thermostat housing and escalade hose and begi spacer and just throw a freeze plug and block off plate on the front of your engine and you're good.

The only problem is, I'm running a 1.6, ontop of my current thermostat housing is a radiator coolant fan switch (also known as thermoswitch) that tells my fan to turn on when it gets hot enough (or at least it would if it was currently working). If I remove my old thermostat housing and just throw a block off plate up there how will I get my coolant fan to turn on (without having to hook up a megasquirt and have it control the fan preferably)

I know a million people have done this already and there are at least that many threads on it but I find absolutely nothing about this in any of them.

Edit- just realized you probably have a freeze plug there? Maybe use one of the ports on the reroute spacer? Or toss the freeze plug

Yup, either put the sensor in a block off plate, keeping the thermostat neck, or just plug that wire into a switch, and the other end to ground. That's all the thermoswitch does.

And then don't forget to turn it on when it gets hot.

That's what I was thinking originally, but I was making it needlessly complicated in my mind. I thought I might need to extend the wire and bring it to the reroute spacer but didn't think from the pictures that those ports would be large enough to fit the thermoswitch plug into.

The first answer of the blatantly obvious solution of keeping the thermostat neck in the front and having a hole in the block off plate for the thermoswitch will work out perfectly
