okay so also wanting/needing new clutch i hear the 1.8 hold better? and do i want 6 puck for street driving? whats the best holding and street driveable with still holding quite a bit dont have much power now but plan on it in the future! do i want a sprung or unsprung whats the diff???

personally, i dont recommend a 6puck if its your daily driver... expecially an unsprung one.
i rock the stage one act clutch and it grabs fine.

spec stage 3, ceramic (or was it kevlar?)4 puck here. Dont really like it stoplight to stoplight, friggin hate it in parking lots, but its really pretty awesome everywhere else. Also it is really not that bad when the clutch is cold but when it heats up, it chatters pretty bad from a stop if i dont take off perfectly or rev it up to 3k ... hoping diff mounts help.

go with an act xtreme pp and street disc, 1.6 or 1.8 shouldn't matter unless you want to make over 300whp. If you are planning for more power than that you've got a lot more stuff to worry about. You have to get a 1.8 flywheel to use the 1.8 clutch so it will be more expensive.

I recently put on a 1.6 Heavy duty pressure plate and a sprung 4puck disc and after it was broken in (clutch slips in high gear, per ACT's directions), it wasn't too bad to drive! Sure it's really touchy, but it's really not that hard to drive and the "chattering" that people talk about isn't an issue at the moment. If it comes later down the road, I don't think it'll cause too much of a problem.

If you're looking for something that won't "chatter," make sure you get a sprung disc. For a clutch that'll be easy to slip to make starts more friendly, definitely get a full-faced disc. The XTSS ACT would probably be good for you if you're going to be throwing lots of boost at it. For a lower boost application, the HDSS will hold the power without too much of a problem. On a final note, the HD doesn't require too much pedal pressure, but the XT probably will.

if you have no experience driving with a pucked clutch I would advise against it. I've been driving with the act street/strip clutch and pressureplate for two yrs now running at least 220rwhp with no problems.

I've been using the ACT 1.8l Xtreme presure plate w/ modified street disc for 4 years now and love it. I've put over 60k miles on it and have never had any driveability issues. I wouldn't use a puck style clutch on a street car. I've personally had too many issues with them in the past.

the 1.8L HD Street disc will suffice for over 200tq.

Same here, 1.8. The street disc is very forgiving like all organic discs & allows you to "slip" the clutch for good launches, burnouts, creeping in traffic, teaching wife to drive stick, etc. Ceramic/puck discs are much more easy to **** up. If you slip the clutch too much and the pucks get glazed over, you're screwed.

A "sprung" clutch disc means the clutch disc hub is attached to the clutch surface with springs or another form of squishy connection.
