What M6 tap do I use for the I.L.Motorsport Hood Lift Kit?

The instructions only say an M6 tap, and I need to buy the correct one.

Thanks so much,
Marcello

standard m6 thread is x1.00

youll need a stater tap, and if its a blind hole, depending on the depth, you may need to finish with a bottom tap or plug tap. If youre threading blind aluminum, you can get away with starting and finishing with a plug tap.

why are you lifting your hood and making your car look retarded?

Its for more cooling vlad duh. function over form.

thumpetto007 09-12-2015 02:38 PM

thanks so much, I got a bottoming and starting m6 tap!

thumpetto007 09-12-2015 02:39 PM

Its not what you think it is, its the raising dampers, to eliminate the hood prop, and give you more working room under the hood

18psi 09-12-2015 02:58 PM

ahh ok that's fine then.

concealer404 09-12-2015 08:11 PM

Make sure you got the kit that goes on both sides. The single sided one warps hoods.

thumpetto007 09-12-2015 11:57 PM

Yeah I figured that would happen, the kit has two dampers, one on either side.

Thanks

^ will do!

I changed the tire pressures and increased dampening a bit, I hope thats ok with you guys.

I might raise the rear end 1/16, I'm getting a bit of oversteer.

Now you've done it! I don't know what your baseline is or what the car's intent is, but Emilio at 949 Racing has put together a nice general setup page on his website. If anything, it might be good to check your setup against what he's found to work.

I actually have exactly his list of recommended suspension mods. Alignment is set, so I just raise or lower the rear end a bit. Its really amazing how the handling changes from a 1/16 ride height difference.

Your requested mods are Miataturbo.net approved now you can go mod your car.... Loll

You can tell a 1/16th of an inch difference?! I can barely tell when my emergency brake is on. :)

jmann 09-17-2015 04:05 PM

You would want to lower the rear if you are getting oversteer

thumpetto007 09-17-2015 06:01 PM

I meant understeer, I always get under/oversteer confused.

I was understeering, so I raised the rear, now I'm just about neutral, unless the road surface is wet, then I get a bit of oversteer :)
