What would my car be worth?

Not sure if this would be considered a General chat, BS, or Classifieds thread?
Think I've lost interest in my Miata. Bought it in 2005 and put roughly 55,000 miles on the chassis, considering it hasn't run for more than 2.5 years total since I bought it. Here is my plan and I want to know if this would be worth my time. Obviously the car has no motor installed right now, but this is what I'm thinking about spending my fall and winter to complete: Would like to Acquire a good strong running engine and install in the car, complete turbo install, tune and sell the car. 1995 Miata "C" package (Around 150k on chassis) Red w/Tan interior "Fair" Condition leather seats Corbeau racing seats installed on Miata rails 5 point racing belts No stereo/Speakers Replaced the top in 2007 w/glass window. Zip/No Zip type top Power Windows Cruise control Body has some rust Hard dog M2 double diag hardtop rollbar Shitty Clifford 2-way alarm, remote trunk solenoid. One remote. Still has A/C PS Delete and depowered rack Hella Euro spec H4 headlights Xentec 6000k HID headlights, properly adjusted OEM front spoiler Autometer a-pillar dual gauge pod (Haven't decided to include the Greddy Boost and EGT Gauges yet) No major dents or body damage Brand new front bumper in the plastic, primed ready for paint Stock 1.8 Liter engine <?Miles?> Weld-el Log turbo manifold Garrett T3/T04B V-Band downpipe adapter Walbro 255lph fuel pump (Probably RX8 Injectors) Megasquirt 2.2 w/mods Toyota COPs Turbonetics deltagate CXRacing 26x6x2.5 FMIC Greddy Type-S Knockoff BOV 3" Stainless Steel TurboRacer exhaust GM IAT Innovate LC-1 (Can't remember the brand) Water Injection system Stock 5 speed Transmission SPEC Stage 3 Clutch Fidanza 8lb flywheel Stock torsen rear Stock halfshafts Tein Monoflex Coilovers (less than 2000 miles) Racing beat big hollow front swaybar Racing beat Swaybar brace kit TDR Heim-Jointed swaybar end links Racing beat std rear swaybar 2 sets of stock wheels 1 set of 2004 Mazdaspeed Racinghart 17x7 wheels (some very minor scuffs) Brake rotors are trash and need replacement. Believe I have a good set of OEM mazdas in the garage. Pads are OEM Mazda Brand new heater core New fuel filter Brand new radiator https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1315888708 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1315888708 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1315888708 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1315888708 What am I looking at? Could I get maybe like $7500 for the car or am I dreaming? |
What would you sell the Mono Flex for?

This isn't a sale thread. This isn't a part out thread. |
$4000 tops.
|
7,500.... you are really dreaming.
I agree with flaeflora on that. But, you might be able to reach the 6ish range by parting it out and selling the miata as a roller on stock suspension if its clean |
4000? Seriously??? I've seen bone stock rusted out 1.6 shitboxes sell for more than $4000!!
Suspension, top, roll bar and exhaust were over $4000 alone!! WTF? |
My suggestion if you've really lost interest in it is to get it running in as close to stock form as you can and sell the car. Then sell the higher value items that you can pull off and replace with stock parts, like the Teins, separately to obtain as much money as you can from it. The value of the individual parts do not really add to the value of the car when installed, that's why the majority of turbo Miatas for sale are either parted out or sell when the price is finally down to just above what it's worth in stock form. That's why I think there's really no point in trying to build it up just to sell it, it'll be a monetary loss on your end.
However, if you think the fall/winter build might respark your interest in the car, then that's on you to gamble with. |
Stock Car $$$ > Modified Car $$$
Almost always. Unless your mods are really good, you're a well-known builder and the buyer is looking for a modified car that has been modified in exactly the way you've modded it (most aren't). As an example, I wouldn't touch the POS's most of you numbnuts have hacked together. :D I think most here would agree. If we were to do a project, we'd rather start off with a known stocker. |
$4000 is BS, as a hole good running car w/ that equipment I'd say your original price of $7,500 isn't far off the mark. However, I'd just part out as is now.
|
I dont know what you guys are smoking, but 7500 is beyond outrageous.
Sorry, not hating just giving you a reality check. I agree with fagglefelcher and some others: you'll get 5k tops for it IMO. Best part it out then get rid of a bone stock car MAYBE then you'll get closer to 6. If that. Just list it for sale and see how many serious hits you get at 7500. Hell even 7. You'll be shocked. |

Just like hornetball said, I sold my super clean supercharged NB with lots of goodies and I only got what a stock one was worth:

Yeah well a long list of mediocre mods with mediocre results equals not that great a price.
Wow. Thanks for nothing.

Most of the aftermarket stuff came because of things like this: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1315951750 I still have them but they're cooked. :( |

My friend, unless you want to keep this car for yourself, sell off your nice parts and sell the chassis. Not sure it is worth the time and effort to make it a stock driver. The outside looks great, but you don't have to dig very far. There are lots of really good, clean Miatas out there, this ain't one of them. Just trying to be honest. |

Prime example of a hacked car. Look at the fine metalwork below the master cylinder. This is why people shy away from modded cars. Add to that a mention of rust . . . .

To be honest, far as "hacked car" I was pissed installing a header and took my saw to that one part. That would be the ONLY hacked part of the entire car. Yeah it has rust, welcome to our shitty platform.
Again, appreciate the honesty. As others have stated, sell the parts worth money and sell the shell to some spec racer who eats walls. ....or (I'm only partially joking here): Spray bomb the rust, buff it, slam the Monos and take 'artful' pictures. Post of ClubRoadster or Ebay. Both of these markets are dominated by impressionable buyers who continually drive up the price of goods. I bet you could get 6-7k for the car with a little bit a patience, it just won't be anyone on this forum. -Zach |
