I was told this just the other day by a friend that is a very avid racer. He has an M-edition, and a 96? with the larger 1.8L brakes. He can barely run 14" daisies over them.
If you want to swap your 1.8L brackets and calipers for my 1.6L hardware in order to run 13" wheels I can make it worth your while.
EDIT: Nm, just saw your post. I have seen some people downgrade just to get superlight wheels for racing. They end up running some pretty heavy duty pads though with the smaller brakes.

Those are nice...thanks, now I understand. I assumed it was about less unsprung weight, at the expense of smaller tires (lowers car, inaccurate speedo, high cost for some models). I hadn't considered the cheapness of racing tires in this size.
What kind of profiles/treadwidth do you run to keep the gearing from getting too short?
EDIT: Those are great 9lb!!!111!! wheels. I need $650 right friggin' now.

Are the sizes I run. Never looked at speedo? And I never ran out of gear at all my local Auto-x in 2nd gear with 200 whp. I even drive it to auto-x on slicks sometimes.
