where can I get engine rebuild stuffs?
valve guides and seals
rings wrist pins (possibly) rod and main bearings any inexpensive forged 1.6 pistons worth a shit? It looks like with weisco's I can get the for sub $500, and .020 over (not that I care to line bore when I could just hone). |

so , um...global ignore totally sucks.

Your just lucky Philip hasn't said anything yet... Sorry I have no idea where to get them, you might call Larry at LS Motorsports. He has rebuilt many spec miata engines and may be of some assistance.

Weisco pistons are arguably some of THE best. They own their own forging plant and their pistons can have closer cyl wall to piston clearance than other pistons. Order rings through the pistons supplier you are buying from so that they can give you proper matching ones. Also come with matching wrist pins.
A good performance machine shop can install nice brass valve guide (if they need replacement) and install new valve seals. While the head is there get a simple valve job since they have to take the head apart anyways. Unless you are 100% sure that after a bore you can at least remain within the mid range of piston to wall clearance then go for it. Otherwise you need a bore to maintain a 100% reliable daily driven car. Rod and mains I would recommend replacing with oem or clevite77. You might be better off letting your performance machine shop pick your bearings for you that way they can get the proper clearance for sure. Are you planning to rebuild this yourself? Or do you just want to order the parts and deliver them to someone that will build it for you? BTW, nice flame suit! |

Thats fine, I would take it to them though to see if it is warped (happens often when removing al heads) and also so that they can check the valve shaft endplay. Thats how they tell if your guides are worn out.

You won't need a line bore. Sometime people get line hones, but you will be using the same mains so that shouldn't even be required. Assembly normally would run around 3-400ish I would think. Thats just assembly though. A good bore hone with a torqure plate (get this done!!!) is probably close to $100 for a 4 cylinder engine. You will need to supply them with all the clearances and everything that are needed.

I didn't know they would bore without the torque plate. One more question...is there a link to all clearances?
I'm getting the labor done in trade most likely, if I go this route. |
I dont have a link, someone here must have the miata service manual for your year engine though. Maybe they could chime in.
