where to go for consumables?

where do you go to get your replacement boots, rebuild kits, gaskets etc...?

i've used rock auto for an alternator belt, and finish line performance for boots and stuff

is there a place you like that has a balance between quality and pricing?

For Mazda factory parts I go to Rosenthal Mazda/Finishline.

frostyllama 03-25-2010 11:02 PM

anybody know how middle range brands on rockauto compare to oem parts quality wise? because generally they are *much* cheaper...

I use rockauto shit like that on my car and its held up for at least 2-years just fine. A little silicone spray goes a long way.

Finish Line, Local NAPA Store, and RockAuto.

Shipping from Rockauto could be pricey. Parts ship from different warehouses and tends to jack up the price considerably if ordering a lot of different parts. But overall a good experience.
Rosenthal/Finish Line is reasonably priced, and ships quickly, good people.
Napa is for shit that I need immediately.

I buy almost exclusively from Finish Line. That is mostly because they are only 25min away and open 7 days a week. It is hard not to support a dealership that is that awesome.

For small local things I usually just hit up autozone though.

Do you take your gun in there?

LOL, just ordered tie rod ends, lower ball joints and a motor mount for the V8 car. All three shipped from different warehouses.:giggle: Kinda funny when shipping was $6.00 on a $5.56 motor mount, but at least it was $5.56 for the motor mount instead of the $12 that the chain stores wanted and I would still have to wait for it. All three packages were to my door in two days.

For me, it used to be a choice between cheap shit from Autozone, Advanced Auto, RockAuto, and pricey shit from MazdaSpeed (or, even pricier shit from dealers, no matter how fantastic their service is). Even though I get preferential price from Mazda as a racer, stuff would still add up.

Now, I go with partsmatrix.com. Lance is tremendous. Fast, cheaper than Mazda, and very high quality.

O'Reilly's for the basic stuff. It's 2 blocks from my house.

NAPA or Advance Auto for more specific Miata parts.

Rosenthal when I have time to plan the project and order parts.
