white smoke
OK been that I can't remember what color smoke means what.
My car is starting to smoke, it mostly happens when leaving a light, I get a nice small cloud of smoke, big enough to notice but not a smoke screen. I just noticed it today that I was smoking, but my roommate mention seeing smoke when my car was idling last night. I figure it had to do with the cold motor. Well when I went to heel-toe into my school, I left a james bond cloud of smoke. here is the know condition of the car: there was an oil leak coming from the valve cover that I fixed(no more oil been sprayed on the valve cover and no more dips) the coolent is basicly 85-90% water, due to just replacing a bad T-stat gasket and not realizing that the coolent bottle at my place where just water the tail shaft seal is leaking on my rx7 transmission, I am replacing that hopefully next week(waiting on a check) the oil pressure guage was reading just under 30psi when I pulled into the parking lot, I would say about 27-28psi. the vacum gauge i believe was reading correctly but I will know more when I drive home after school |
engine burning oil. Could be rings or valve seals. With the car running, pull your dipstick to see if there are any vapors being blown out. Thats a sign of a decent amount of blow-by.

Well I pulled the dip when I pulled up here and didn't really see any vapors but I didn't look for vapors so it may be there and just didn't notice. |
well, hold a piece of papertowel/tissue over the dipstick pipe and see if it gets pushed away.

Yea I will do that when I take a break. This just happen to be a really shitty time for my motor so start dieing.

white smoke is water--either condensation or coolant
oil is generally slightly blue and stinky |

A lot of the time oil will look white in the mirror.... God knows when i was driving around with a broken ring land, i was blowing white smoke....and flames lol. Brian will vouch for that.

Well the question is what would allow that much water to enter into my system to cause that much smoke.

Leakdown test will tell you EXACTLY what's wrong as well as the severity of the problem.

If that were the case, it could be a warped head or bad head gasket. Next time its "smoking" at idle and you know it's not the normal vapor from a cold start, smell it to see if it has a very "sweet" smell to it. Coolant smells sweet, oil smells like something is on fire (think back to being behind my green car lol)
