White smoke out the tailpipe after warming up

ok, i am still being paranoid about smoking coming out the tail pipe.

When i start the car in the morning at first it does not smoke at all. After a few minutes of warming up white smoke start to come out the tail pipe and water starts to drip out the exhaust. This happens not only in the morning but after the car sits for a bit out side too.

Is this normal or my headgasket could be leaking again?

Recent work done: Rebuilt head, new composite headgasket, reused ARP headstuds. And i just converted to E85.

Sorry to hear this.
Sounds like head gasket.
Why didn't you use a stock head gasket?

I did not want to take the whole engine apart and shave the block. So i just put in the stock head gasket. I kind of doubt its a head gasket tho.

the E85 makes me wanna strangle kittens but yeah you have a coolant leak into the combustion chamber some where most likely the HG so GL

how can i make sure thats the problem without tearing the engine apart?

I just did this stupid head gasket and i really dont want to do this again if i dont really need to do it?

Is it possibly unburnt fuel dripping out? Could be running super rich once its warmed up. How's your oil look?

i doubt its the fuel. The car runs good and the afrs at idle is 14.5-15.5. And its for sure water not oil. Could it just be condensation?

Oil looks fine.

Rushin 09-04-2009 12:50 AM

I guess what i am going to do is sample my oil and send it to blackstone labs. I was going to do that anyway, so this will show if there is any coolant in the oil.

Does the white exhaust stop, and does it smell sweet at all? Having condensation come out of your exhaust is totally normal. If the white goes away when the car warms up then I would say everything is fine.

well, its hard to say about the smell, because i run the car on e85 its always smells kind of sweet. The smoke usually goes away after the car totally warms up.

I am going to take a video right now and will post it.

leatherface24 09-04-2009 12:05 PM

Does it look like this? Cause mine is just a fuel issue.

Rushin 09-04-2009 12:11 PM

yeah it looks similar. Ill post the vid in a few min.

dustinb 09-04-2009 12:11 PM

Does it dissipate, or is it real smokey?

Rushin 09-04-2009 12:17 PM

its for sure steam not smoke.

dustinb 09-04-2009 12:24 PM

This is a blown headgasket smoke. I would say your HG is fine.

Go to 2:30. Thats where the steam starts

Rushin 09-04-2009 07:59 PM

So anyone thing this is a problem?

dustinb 09-04-2009 08:13 PM

From what I see, I would say yes, but I would want to see what it looked like after 10 to 15 minutes of driving.

Rushin 09-04-2009 08:29 PM

I will do a video after 15 min driving. So you think there is a problem?

dustinb 09-04-2009 08:49 PM

Well it's very odd. It takes a while for the white smoke to come out, and then once it starts happening, it's always there, and puffs after each acceleration... quite strange. Is your turbo water cooled as well?
