If I had the money I'd make this car or Robino's car a SSM car.

But... I don't even have enough to turbo my NA

I wonder how can the stock ignition handle 30 psi,, some thing seems funny. also with that much heat and no water reroute i am sure he must be selling because the motor is on its way out. 3x the heat and all stock cooling system = fail

not necessarily:
if all that car is doing is dyno pulls or the occasional blast through the gears and that's it the stock cooling system, while not ideal, should be able to handle it.

Look at Eliminators setup on m.net. 500+whp and also using stock ignition/cooling system. A quick blast of speed won't overwhelm the stock cooling system. Constant WOT in boost for long periods of time (what all of our track junkies do on a regular basis) will.

Is that car begging for better ignition/cooling? yes. Does it absolutely need it for quick drag race/street pulls? nope.

On another note I DO find it odd that he's selling so cheap. I know a modded car doesn't hold its value nearly as well as people think, especially a salvaged title car, but still: there's at least 10k worth of parts on that car alone.

Agreed-- exceppppt that elminator is running an aluminum radiator and MSD coils

mr 500hpcraigslist is also running e85 which has mad low boosted WOT EGTs of like 900* F IIRC. That also means less cooling required. That still would not help with spark blowout though at 30psi.

On the price, let's part it out for funses-

$2K rolling shell or $4k shitted up salvage title
$2K tranny
$3.5K badass turbo "kit"
$400 intake
$3000 motor
$??? ecu

= may as well sell whole

im sure ecu is not cheap
+ 600-1000 (depending on if bought new) 6uls
+600 or so konis
+ 1000 looks like has a hard top
+ I'm sure it has more things

all in all I'm sure its got about 15 maybe more total in it. so for him to sell it for 10 its probably highly abused or something is wrong or the guy must be an idiot.

I dunno

Unfortunately there is almost no boost below 5k, which removes that around town go-kart fun. Pretty bad *** though.

This raises a question that I've been wondering about. What is the stock crank good for HP-wise, or is it merely a function of balancing the motor?

What pressure can the block take before it explodes? 30psi on that big turbo is a lot of pressure.

Oh and here is his thread on miata.net

http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread...&highlight=e85

There are some good dyno comparisons in there between 30r and 35r.

So wait, from what I see in that thread the .63 35r OUTSPOOLS both the .86 and the .63 gt30r?????WTF?? Am I missing something?

This thread could not have come at a better time I might add, I'm directly in the middle of choosing my next turbo which will be a 30-35r as well as switching to e85. Everyone please post more

By outspool you mean "makes more power"? Or do you mean "boost onset?"

The graphs just show that it makes more power.

Those graphs make me regret going with a GT30.

torque and power onset looks to be a couple hundo rpm earlier on the 35r unless I'm missing something.

How can the bigger turbo outspool both versions of the smaller turbo? If it was just the .86 30r that it outspooled I'd understand, but it looks like it spools faster than the .63 as well from the charts he posted.

ok I lied its not a couple hundo earlier than the .63 30r but still about the same and even a teeny bit quicker to spool

Never seen it or heard of it. Not mikef's old car. His was green. Don't recognise the dyno shop either. I bet is was done somewhere other than ATX.
