Who is in the market for a set of pistons?

This thread is based on a piston thread that is about a week old. I believe Perez is in the market for a set of pistons. I'm in the market for a set of pistons. I would like the people that are ready to put down the cash in the next few weeks to chime in. If we can all agree on a brand (weisco, supertech, etc), then maybe we can put a group buy together through one of our supporting vendors.

Supertech Pistons - Sport Compact Warehouse - Import Performance Specialist

It looks like you can get supertech pistons and rings for $370. Anyone have any opinion on the part numbers of the pistons listed?

You make a lot of stupid threads. Learn to search, and quickly. There was literally a long-ass thread entitled "Pistons." like a week ago that has a whole ton of opinions, and you expect us to just repeat them because you're too lazy to go seek out your own information?

Don't be such an idiot savington. Reread it for yourself. While it's a good discussion about weisco vs supertech and thermal expansion. I'm looking for the best price/quality for the supertechs. There are claims that the ones from a vendor on this board are made slightly different to the ones that can be purchased on other sites. I'm looking for exactly what I asked for in this post. Please take your current useless insight elswhere.
While most of your contributions are useful, this one is not.

Raceeng has wiseco for 460$

The grammar is just good enough that I'll let it go. What kind of opinions do you want, aside from what was discussed in that thread? It covers the difference in alloy about as well as you can without getting into really technical articles. There's a bunch of discussion elsewhere about stuff like compression ratio and bore sizes as well.

I'm up in the air between the supertech and the weisco pistons. After the piston thread (which was an excellent thread) it appears to be a decision left up to price. Weiscos have softer metal allowing some forgiveness for a less than optimal tune, but they expand more. Supertechs are the oposite.

Supertechs with rings out the door for $370 seems like a great deal. I just wanted confirmation that this was a good buy, and pass it on to other forum members.

How close are you to Anaheim, CA savington?

Savington 07-21-2009 04:44 PM

'Bout 3.5 hours north.

$370 for Supertechs is a good deal. I'm happy with mine, no noise on startup. I have 84mm 8.7:1s.

Is there any particular reason that you went with 84mm as opposed to 83.5mm? I was concerned about block thickness going .040 over.

Figured while I was boring it, I may as well get 40ccs of displacement over 20ccs of displacement. I didn't do the 85.5mm pistons because I was concerned with wall thickness going .100 over (and I wasn't about to pay $200 for a head gasket).
