that's kinda what i figured, but it's cool i like this shop they're just like, depending on how much power you're plannning on making we might advise you to get upgraded cams too, i'm like i'll look into it, but I really just want to get pistons and possibly rods. they even offer a warrently, i'm like YESSSS!!!!:bigtu: :gay: |
If you want rods... buy mine ;)
|
If you're replacing pistons then definately do the the rods, they're usually first to go in high hp applications, I'd suggest buying belfab rods from splittime, very good deal on strong forged rods.
|
I think a cam that could hold the torque flater longer and a head built for 8000-9000 rpms would be fun :gay:

I have a set of Boig cams for a 1.6 sitting in my attic that I never got the gumption to put in. They were from some spec Mazda series in the early 90's.
I had planned to slap them in after I got the IRTB's rockin' but that didnt work out. |
Some people install two exhaust cams or two intake cams, not sure if the increase is in primarily duration or lift but they're supposedly different and it is supposed to change the torque curve some.

I'm confused.. what does you running pistons and rods have to do with needing cams? I wouldn't really be thinking about running aftermarket cams unless your going to be building up the head with those cams.
i know that's what i was thinking in the back of my head...I think they're under the impression that they want to build a full out motor for me... but I'm just intereested in rods and pistons. they are just asking me what my goal is in hp that i'm trying to reach. So no biggy. I'll talk to them. I just didn't think that many people here even ran uprgraded cams. So thank you for all your input. |
One possibly better option than buying off the shelf cams is to have the shop flow test your head and then provide that info + turbo setup to a place that custom grinds cams for your goals. Cost is about ~$100/cam + shipping IIRC. Guy on m.net by the name camgrinder (I think) used to do custom grinds, not sure if he still does though.
