Why do my RX7 injectors not fit?

I am in the middle of installing my link ecu. I got to the point where I wanted to put my new 460cc rx7 injectors in, only to realize the clips are completely different?

I thought these were supposed to be "plug and play"...

not so much.

The injectors are
195500-1350

And my car has stock blue injectors with more of a "round" clip... whereas the RX7 injectors are square.

Are they even going to work? I just spent $100 on getting them cleaned. If I got the correct harness clips, would they work?

magnamx-5 04-12-2010 09:12 PM

um throw a multi meter on there and measure the ohms across the 2 polls if they are 10 or more ohms resistance they will work just fine with the proper clips. if they are low impedance ie 1-4 ohms resistance then they are low impedance and they can work with the link however it will require some mods. dude the info is on your test results for the cleaning of the injectors fyi lol.

falcon 04-12-2010 09:14 PM

They are red. So therefore low imp.

I'll go grab a multimeter and check.

What harness clips will work? What resistor do I need if they are infact low imp?

magnamx-5 04-12-2010 09:17 PM

umm
both the high and low impedance ones are red dude

yes if they are low you need to do the resistor mod among other things the low impedance injectors are more stable at low dutycycles but being only 460's that isnt realy much of an issue for you.

Jeff_Ciesielski 04-12-2010 09:18 PM

You need Bosch EV-1 connectors.

falcon 04-12-2010 09:21 PM

They look like the top injector. I cant find my multimeter right now... I think I lent it to someone...

My injectors dont have the little offset thing on the bottom of the clip that the lower picture does.

I'll see if I can find some Bosch EV1 connectors right now.

Jeff_Ciesielski 04-12-2010 09:22 PM

Diyautotune carries the connectors for a reasonable price IIRC

magnamx-5 04-12-2010 09:23 PM

find the data sheet from when you got the injectors cleaned the info you need will be on there man. Those are both the exact same injector man the only diff is internal.

oh... and it was a cash deal so I didn't get any paperwork... lol :D

magnamx-5 04-12-2010 09:27 PM

then call the dude he had to have done some testing to verify his results on spray pattern etc. Otherwise how do you know he didnt just hold your injectors for a day and give em back to you.

falcon 04-12-2010 10:53 PM

It's not like that... I know he cleaned them. I get a shit load of injectors cleaned with this guy through my work. I know they were done.

therieldeal 04-12-2010 11:21 PM

you sir have S4 injectors, the ones to have are from the S5.

you have to watch out with the S4's, some of them have a larger nozzle diameter which won't even fit into the BP head....

falcon 04-13-2010 12:06 AM

They fit. I already had them in the rail and bolted down before I realized the clips were wrong...

Anyways the car runs now with the OEM injector NA setting... but it runs like shit. Enough to get me to/from work for a week or two until my turbo kit is installed and I can drive to my tuner.

I had to adjust the master fuel from 140 to 100 to get it to start. Thing was being a HUGE bitch.

This.

And to be more helpful, the years are

S4= 86-88
S5= 89-91.

You need the 89-91 non-turbo injectors. I used them in my 96 with no problem whatsoever. Plugged them up and tuned them with an Apex-i SAFC.

falcon 04-14-2010 12:14 PM

So I tested them...

basically right at 13 ohms. one was 12.9 and another was 13.1

So this would make them high imp? So all I should need is the EV-1 clips and they should be PNP?

Yessir.

gospeed81 04-14-2010 12:18 PM

Yes, they are high imp.

There is an ebay seller that sell those connectors cheap. They work well, I've used two sets. Search under my user name for a link, or just search ebay motors.

Had the same issue with some TII rx7 injectors. NAPA actually had the pigtails for the connectors - <$3 each.

falcon 04-14-2010 12:54 PM

Excellent.

NAPA... we have those in Canada! I'll give it a try.
