so i used the search button over and over....got nothing
this morning i am trying to install a lc-1 and i need some quick replies

so quick question. i am installing a wideband 02 sensor and gauge so 1 output is going to the gauge and the other is a simulated narrow band signal for the ECU. i am having some problems finding wiring diagrams right now for a 99 so i know witch wire to hook it too......
so my question is when every thing is wired up should i cut off the stock 02 sensor (4 wires) and tape off everything except the signal wire and use that or take everything out and go stright to the ECU like right on it and splice it there? for the signal.
and then use what ground the ECU one? or the frame one or whatever
i need a pin out of a 99 miata ECU

Your answer:
Without knowing anything about your setup, I have to assume you've bought a downpipe with just one o2 sensor bung. Because of this you feel compelled to cut a the factory wiring for the stock o2 sensor so you can use your LC1 to do both... right? Next TIP: Never cut factory wiring if there is another solution.... and in this case, there is. Any muffler shop will weld a second o2 bung on your DP for about $20 including the bung. This is a vastly better solution that retains your stock o2 sensor doing it's thing with the ECU way better than the LC1 can simulate, and means you don't have to do any re-wiring/splicing should you ever need to return to stock. DON'T CUT FACTORY WIRES IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO!

okay well i have a header and i have 2 02 locations.....lets just say my car is stock.
what i need is a pin out on a 99 miata ECU so i know where to connect it
i dont use this forum much but heres me

From the 2000 Mazda service manual (same as '99):



For what it's worth, I strongly recommend against replacing the factory narrowband sensor with a wideband, so long as the stock ECU is present. Believe it or not, narroband sensors are actually more durable and longer-lived than widebands, and of course if you actually unplug one of the two factory sensors, the ECU will throw a CEL for heater malfunction. (Not that it matters in FL, but I hate CELs.)

thanks. well thats what it has been doing telling me that i get p0401 i think thats it if i remember right. says its not getting upp to temp but i am going to turbo it soon so i thought this would be a good idea cuz the gas mileage sucks right now

P0401 is "Insufficient EGR Flow". Removal of the forward O2 sensor will more likely result in P1135, "Bank 1 Sensor 1 Heater Circuit Low Input".

Then just replace the factory o2 sensor with a new one.
Trust us... you don't want to run the LC1 narrowband simulator feeding your stock ECU if you don't have to. It's way more trouble than it's worth. For now, just replace the sensor with an OEM part from Kragen or wherever you shop.

When you purchase your turbo pieces, make sure the downpipe you buy has 2 o2 sensor bungs. Still keep the stock sensor to feed the stock ECU and put the LC1 in the second bung to feed your piggyback... unless you plan on going STANDALONE where you won't need the narrowband. STILL, at that point there's no reason to cut the factory harness because you were smart and kept your old busted sensor. Cut the connector off of that and wire your wideband into it, then connect it to the factory harness.

On the other hand, if you're not reading the codes right, then the sensor might not be your problem. EGR problems are very common... make sure you know what's wrong before you buy any new parts.
