Because I have a few of them.
Attachment 209308 Ported the wastegate ala BEGi-ish. Thinking about pulling some more material off but we'll see how this goes. My first time porting anything at all, so go easy on my sloppy-as-hell job. Attachment 209309 Attachment 209310 A fresh solution to the "my nuts are coming off" issue. Big brace up top to try to support the turbo/DP. I'm also going to be bracing the downpipe to the transmission like the car came from the factory. Hopefully that reduces the load on the 4 nuts/studs and helps them stay in place. New hardware all around as well, copper lockers and mabye safety wire on the turbo, and split-lock washers and copper lockers on the DP. Attachment 209311 Polyurethane bushings on all 4 corners, plus new alignment bolts and fresh ball joint booties. Attachment 209312 Enthuza 3" test pipe (I'm a dog person anyway) plus a big wing, which I'll have pictures of in a week or two. It's nice to actually get a little work done on the car. First time I've done something major in at least 6 months. The test pipe should hopefully open up the midrange a bit, and if the porting and a manual boost controller solves the overshoot issues I will turn it up to 15-16psi and hopefully be seeing around 240whp. The biggest difference will definitely be the wing, though. I'm super psyched to try it out. |

If you have a small drill press and a C-clamp you could drill your studs and then use caster nuts to wire them. And what's the wing for, track days I guess?

The wing should provide a bit more traction to the rear tires at higher speeds on track due to the down force. Somewhere around the 80-110 mph range?

Should be anything over 60mph. Biggest worry is actually too MUCH downforce. I'm going to get a second trunklid as well.

Having not finished setting my suspension up at all (super soft street style springs), it hasn't been worth trying to really dial anything in. I know that even driving a fwd car on track... I found the need for rear downforce above 100mph. |
I'm safety wiring the turbine housing to center housing bolts today. I lost one of them a few weeks ago and found two others loose. (BTW, they're $4 a piece through ATP.) How the hell can these bolts be falling out of one side of the housing and the DP studs seize on the other? I'm also doing the two oil drain flange Allen bolts.
I was going slow and using thread cutting oil but I've broken my 3/32 bit already. Of course everyone is closed so I'd done for the day. |

As Savington said, the hardest part is maintaining a balance between front and rear, and being able to match that downforce in the front. May have to dial some angle out of the wing to match whatever I can achieve in the front. |
nothing wrong with a spoiler on the track. One of the fastest SM2 cars at my local autocross circuit ran a large spoiler. We had a big pad then and often we got up to 60+ mph.

what are you planning on running in the front for downforce?? splitter? canards? I had a thought about a rear wing, but I've seen a few instances where the rear wing just ends up putting the slip on the front instead of the back..

Why dont you use nord lock washers on the stud nuts? they are very effective, work great on our sae car.
