Wobbly shifter?
Hey guys,
I gots a problem here. About a month and a half ago i changed the clutch on my miata from OEM to a 6-puck clutch. Everything was great up until now. In all gears, the shifter feels extremely wobbly!! When I put it into any gear i can wobble it around as if it was in neutral without popping it out of gear. Could it be because a bushing broke or fell out? I know there are those nylon looking bushings there. Any advice??? Thanks peeps |
I'd check the bushing...also make sure is seated right.

recentaly my shifter became loose.ive been miss shifting to from 2nd to 5th.
do i buy a new shifter or some ''short shifter''. but i dont like the notchy tight as hell ones, |
The bushing makes your shifter wobble when it breaks. Its the plastic cap that goes on the end of the shifter. That and a combination of a cracked lower shift boot would make it wobble pretty good.

Ok, i'll go check those!!
I knew there was a bushing there, but thought i'd consult with the guru's here first before i tear into things. The shifter rubber stuff is all brand new, I just didn't bother changing out that bushing though. I'll keep you guys updated. |
In my MSM the shifter kept jumping out and would just sit on top of the bushing. In the end I had to shim it up a bit with a washer to stop it popping out.
