Is it worth changing compressor inlets?

I currently have this:

Any thoughts on it being worth the money to get an inlet pipe made which is roughly .5" larger?

there will be no difference if you already have a smooth tapering intake from 3"

Like brainey said: since it tapers down to the same opening it won't make a difference aside from look cleaner without that weld there. if the opening was bigger though you'd lose a little lowend torque and gain a little topend from how I understand it

it's not the length

it's the GIRTH.

I thought about you when I was placing this in the box-o-miata-shit. I don't have a smooth taper by any means.

then swap that ho

the larger inlet is only useful if the taper is smooth like a trumpet. if it's stepped, it probably wont matter as much
