Default Back after doing some research

okay so after getting raped for being a noob im back
did some research but still a tad confused
im deciding between begi or fm
all i really want is atleast 200whp, not too much to ask
so really my question is which one is better in the long run or are they the same thing and at what point to i need to get bigger injectors and replace the clutch
also i keep reading about how fragile the diff is on the 1.6 miatas, is that something i need to replace before i turbo it
i drive a 93 miata bone stock
now before i get my head bitten off again i am still a noob and i have very little time for research at the moment because of work and college but im doing what i can

If you have little time for research, then you have little time for working on your car.

But you're making an effort (albeit a little half-assed) so I'll throw you a bone.

FM or BEGi, whichever you prefer. Do some research on customer reviews and take your pick. Just a hint: If you're looking for information on pre-fabbed turbo kits, try looking in the pre-fab turbo kits thread and reading some posts on there.

You're reading about how fragile the 1.6 diff is. Why still ask if it should be replaced before you turbo it? No it won't need to be replaced before you turbo it if you'd like to have to tow your car home shortly. If you want your car to be reliable, replace the parts you've read are the weak points.

With 200 whp you'll need to replace the clutch. You should put the bigger injectors and engine management in BEFORE you install the turbo, that way you're only adding one thing at a time.

1. EMS (megasquirt, AEM, whatever)
2. Injectors
3. clutch, diff, turbo kit. do it all at once.

all of these things have been covered -- recently, within the last 2 months -- here on this very website. Now they have been covered again.

Or... if you don't have time for research, please don't mess with your daily driver. Read the quote in EO2K's signature. If you are really short on time, then buy someone else's car that has already been turbo'd.

He didn't ask about artech.

Seriously though, FM is cheaper and will easily hit his goals.

FM is cheaper? Not so sure about that. But, ARTech you will surely have a pretty long wait time.

Course it's cheaper. I don't think ARTech sells a manifold for less than $400. I believe his manifolds start around $500, do they not? Plus the FM log, from what I understand, is very durable. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

But ARTech is worth the wait and price. Someday.....

I think my manifold, which is essentially an FM copy, was $370. Total was $700 for manifold and DP, so technically $50 cheaper than FM's DIY package. Pros and cons of each, and Abe might've raised prices since then.

Abe's 'exhaust' is much cheaper than Begi/FM offerings from what I remember. Part of that is due to the fact that FM and Begi force you to get a high flow cat, IIRC. Price delta between ARTech 3" system and 2.5" is very small, with FM and Begi I recall it was a substantial increase to go to 3". Again, things may have changed, but I did price it all out apples to apples a few years ago when I got my stuff. I also prefer ARtech route, because you can get exactly what you want, if you have such desire to customize it a bit (muffler size, mani and downpipe design, etc).

That said I don't see anything wrong with the Begi/FM route! I liked the FM setup more than Begi.
