Young-blood 15x9 on NB

2 Attachment(s)
Picked up a set of 15x9 jongbloed or whatever from Flyin' Miata on the super-cheap due to them coming in like 0.002lbs over weight or whatever.

Anyways, the wheels are super awesome. I use a 19mm lug, and the HF 19mm deepwell impact socket fits PERFECTLY down into the lug nut hole on the wheel.

I'm running a 225/45/15 Ventus RS3, and the 15x9 with those tires fit almost perfectly with no spacers, roll, or pull. There is a slight bit of rubbing at full lock, but only with the weight in certain positions.

Here are some images for your viewing pleasure.

Not .002lb overweight, more like 2+
It's really the biggest reason I didn't get a set, because otherwise they are AWESOME

By far one of my most favorite looking wheels

That 8lbs makes winning the HPDEs impossibru.

18psi 05-18-2015 11:09 AM

people spend insane money to shed rotational mass on the engine, harmonic damper, flywheel, clutch, driveline bits...........

............so I'ma let you talk like a boss when you at least even compete in one, much less actually win something

:giggle:

And seriously OP, I love these wheels. Don't let revealer040 make it sound like I don't.

concealer404 05-18-2015 11:15 AM

Compete in an HPDE? Wut? U cray, boo. :giggle:

I'm just busting your balls because it's funny to see people complain about weight on a strong sexy set of $432 shipped 15x9s. <3

No worries, I'm right with you.

Fact is, this is my summer daily driver that I autocross a couple times a year. I decided before I went turbo that I was going to build the car I wanted to drive every day, and then take it to the track/autox when the time came.

While I won SSM in every event I entered last year, I'm by no means truly competitive on a regional or national level. My friend was quicker than me in his STS '91.

That said, I'm sure weight isn't negligible, but there's far more tightening of the "nut behind the steering wheel" that needs to be done before I care about a couple lbs on my wheels.

One more pic! I'll add this to the OP, also.

I got a set of TRM 15x9's for free and I just put them on the other day. Before I ran 15x7 RPF1's and holy shit it felt like I was driving with the e-brake on. Already makes me want to get a set of lighter 15x9's.

To the point where at least for 8 and 9 inch wheels there were better deals, on less good looking wheels like the dial ins (for $11 more per wheel).
