Default Feal Suspension 441 Monotube Coilovers

The long awaited updated Feal Suspension 441 coilovers for NA and NB Miatas are here! We worked closely with Feal Suspension during the development process to help design the new 441 coilover. The end result offers an unrivaled cost : performance ratio, for both the Street and the Road Race specs.



If you are not familiar with Feal Suspension, they have been heavily involved with all forms of motorsport including Rally, Road Racing, Drifting for many years. The CEO of Feal Suspension, Aurimas "Odi" Bakchis, is currently competing in the Formula Drift Pro Championship as well as the Formula Drift World Championship.

The 441 Coilover is Feal's street oriented one-way adjustable monotube damper assembled and valved by Feal here in the USA. Intended for both street use and the occasional autocross or track day. Careful work and countless hours of tuning have gone into providing excellent performance and ride quality.



Ships with Good-Win Racing spec 9kg front and 6kg rear spring rates. Most coilovers ship with cheap springs and incorrect spring rates resulting in poor handling. To correct these problems, you end up spending more money to get it right...but here the upgraded Swift Springs are included up front!

Standard Feal 441 coilovers are priced at $1399!

The Road Race 441 Coilover is Feal's motorsport one-way adjustable monotube damper assembled and custom valved by Feal in the USA. Intended for road racing, autocross, and other tarmac motorsport applications. Feal Road Race 441 coilovers feature race oriented valving that is much more digressive than the standard specification. For our street-only customers we recommend the standard 441 coilover.

Feal Road Race 441 Coilovers are $1599.

Both the Standard and Road Race Feal coilovers come standard with extended height top hats in the rear for increased shock travel - crucial for the NA and NB and often an extra cost item in other coilover kits.

Been running and testing the 441 Road Race for a year and a half on the Time Attack car.
They were pretty good in the original version that Feal offered for the NA and NB, but we spent a lot of time perfecting them and adding the features we wanted to see in these before offering the new updated and tailored versions to the community.

The set on my car was built with my request of 17kg (950 lbs) front, 12kg (670 lbs) rear rates, but with a spring rate window of up to 1100 lbs in the front to give me headroom for more spring if I want to run Hoosiers. With the 950's I use about 2/3rds of the adjustment range between street driving where I like 2-4 clicks off full soft to 10-18 clicks for the track.





Last event, we took 4th overall (and first in class) at Redline Time Attack. This with only 200whp in a sea of 400-500+ hp cars built for one-lap wonders. The suspension works flawlessly over every track condition, and with a couple **** turns I drive home and the car has surprising road manners considering the spring rates.

The newest version of the 441s that we are now offering even have a few details that my development versions do not. I'll be sending mine in next year for the updates, and will likely be upgrading them to double adjustables while they are there.

Are these based of Penske shocks or another brand name?</p><p>2. Is the only difference between standard and road race the valving?</p><p>3. The main selling point of other high end miata shocks is the ability for them to ride really nice and have good street manners when riding on very hard spring rates. In your personal usage how would you rank their street manners?</p><p>4. If we already have extended tophats, or would like to go a different route with tophats are they offered with tophats?</p>

Top quality internals and fluid with expert valving within generic shells to reduce the cost to the pricepoint these are offered at. Basically all of the win where it matters. If you want something where every component head to toe is the cream of the crop, there are other products that hit those marks, but they can't hit this pricepoint. That's where the cost : performance ratio comes into play and why we feel these have so much to offer in that regard.

The conversion to double adjustables is where the Penske components are utilized. That feature has not been opted for by any of our customers yet, but it's nice knowing that you have that flexibility to move up to another level at any point in the future. That's a bit besides the point though as the real value of these units is how much performance they offer at $500 less than the next system that feels and performs this well.

Essentially, yes. But valving is EVERYTHING, so that's kind of a big deal. Opting for the Street 441 doesn't give up any features. The Street come with the tried and true 9kg/6kg rates, and are valved for street use, which can do a good job of playing double duty for a street-tired car that goes to the autox or track casually. With the Road Race, you can spec your own spring rates. If Swift makes that rate, you can choose it, and the shock valving is performed on a per-order basis according to your spring rate requests, with a more digressive profile than the Street's valving.

For questions 3 and 4 I'll let Sean chime in as he drives his Road Race units on the street on a regular basis. The funny thing is that out of every customer who comes to the shop and asks for a ride in one of our cars equipped with these, probably 75% are street users, and despite our cars having the Road Race with much higher spring rates than the standard 441's, everyone who goes for a ride wants a set.

Mine are a hodgepodge of several versions of things. I still need to "update" mine to the latest extended height rear top hats also, but that actually means a whole rear shock swap - when we went back to Feal and said that we wanted more travel in the rear, instead of just slapping on a new hat (the aftermarket's way of approaching the problem), Odi changed the top hat to maximize travel and then switched the design to a whole new shock body that could make the most use of that available travel.

Sean is running the final version in his car.

My Feal coilovers have 14kg (784lbs) front springs and 8kg (448lb) rear springs...most people would cringe on the street with these springs but the valving is just so darn good it is genuinely comfortable (in a sporting sense) and livable on the street. Roads in San Diego aren't the best or the worst but I happily get in my car a few days a week to drive to work and still enjoy the ride.

To give you a little perspective, I sold my FCM Elite coilovers (600lb front and 425lb rear) for the Feal 441 Road Race. Despite the healthy gain in spring rate these are just as comfy on the road as my FCM set up was. Another surprise with the high spring rates is how well they do at autocross, my car is set up for big track but the coilovers provide enough compliance on our rough lot that it isn't a hindrance.

The top hats and dampers were both picked to work together as a system, no need to tinker with other bits. If you already have top hats, I'd sell them to help fund the purchase. :-)

Nice. The $1400-2000 market for suspension has filled out nicely between these, the new Fox setup from FM, and the Xida CS setup. Now we just need one or two decent options in the $800-1200 range that don't require guesswork with OTS Bilsteins and eBay parts.

I know it's not exactly apples to apples but I've been extremely satisfied with the 441's I put on my FXT in June. I've already put almost 7000 miles on them (lots of round trips between PA and NC lately). Just like others have have mentioned about the Miata versions they are very comfortable on the soft settings but are also ready for serious corner carving with just a few clicks of the ****. Odi is fantastic to deal with as well.

One of the biggest advantages of these coilovers is they ship as a complete unit and ready to install into the car. Unlike some other coilovers which have a list of optional extras that drive up the price, what you see is what you get with the Feal 441. We've already added all the features we asked for based on testing to make these a fixed price. Furthermore, the shock was selected specifically to work with the top hats provided in the kit...other tops hats are not necessary.

I think the community is just accustomed at this point to needing to piece together a hodgepodge of parts to get a final assembly that actually works to the level they want. That mentality has been formed by most of the options available for years.

Take the Tein Mono Flex as an example. ($1550-$1800 depending on source) From the moment it arrives at your door you need to change the spring rates. And it would be a good idea to add rear travel with different top hats. And if you're bumping the spring rate up as much as you would need for sticky rubber, probably need a revalve as well. This process often happens over time as the user realizes the shortcomings of the setup, so the costs are spread out and you don't realize you're eventually in $2500+ for a setup that finally does what you need it to.

We're all tinkerers, but sometimes it's nice to have it all figured out for you

<p>I just asked because I already have aftermarket mounts that I believe are better than stock mounts. While they may not be better than the feal mounts, if I could save money by using the parts I already have I would prefer to do that.</p><p>I also like the ability to mix and match parts. Take for example the upcoming supermiata coaxial mounts that emilio mentioned in another thread. They are sold separately and may offer better performance than the once included with the feals.</p><p>I enjoy options, even if I probably will screw myself over with having too many.</p><p>I like tinkering, and rarely will I chose a provided route.&nbsp;</p>
