1.8 TD04L Cast Manifold

Hey peeps,

I want to offer a Group Buy for a new cast manifold which I have been trying to make for a long time.
I already offer a log type manifold for the TD04L however feel 2 is better than one so here we are. If you are wondering why the TD04L and not something else is quite simple, cost.

TD04L turbos are readily available, cheap and when paired with TD04 19T Conversion Kit (Subaru) they can offer close to 290 bhp and still retain that nice daily drive.

This is the manifold

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...923/gzfMBo.png http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...923/AI2lGN.png

This is the current elbow that will come with the manifold if needed
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...922/0pWIY5.jpg
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...922/x8Kx9e.jpg

This is the dp kit in 2.5" for current manifold
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...924/BJAuxg.jpg

And this is the current manifold
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640...922/t86Frs.jpg

Now , I want to offer a couple of options on this GB, however mainly it would be the manifold itself, the following are available as extra
-cast elbow I am currently making with 2.5" vband
-2.75" vband to cat for NB and NA
-2.75" Full exhaust on vbands with muffler

Prices
Manifold on GB 260 USD shipped, please note shipping is around 60 USD, so yes making them as cheap as possible because....
Manifold and cast elbow on GB $290 Shipped
Manifold, cast elbow and downpipe to cat 2.75" $550
Manifold and full system on vbands no cat (straight pipe on vbands) $900 shipped

Both the $550 and $900 setups include, oil water lines, engine fittings, actuator bracket, studs and copper nuts

You are looking at around 60 days wait, need 10 people to be able to go ahead. I actually need more but this is the allowance for MT, Europe will have 10 too

Requirements

Manifold - Payment in full for the manifold
Downpipe kit- Part Payment $300 balance in 30 days
Full exhaust setup - Part payment $300 then $300 installments or whatever you can
You need to cover the paypal fees, around 3%
There are no refunds if you change your mind, you can however transfer the order to somebody else
Payments are done through paypal as goods and services, you have 90 days to ask for a refund if goods are not delivered for example
Any questions please dont be shy

Will your 1.6 TD04L manifold work with on a car with power steering and air conditioning?

s0n1cm0nk3y 11-07-2017 05:48 PM

Does the pricing listed include shipping or just the price of the parts?

Kraken 11-07-2017 05:54 PM

All prices are shipped

afm 11-07-2017 05:59 PM

Are there NA and NB DP options?

Kraken 11-07-2017 06:07 PM

yes both

phl 11-08-2017 09:38 AM

I am in for a full system. PM sent.

Kraken 11-08-2017 02:21 PM

3 people confirmed, it would be nice if we can get to 7

RedHeadMetalHead 11-13-2017 06:28 PM

Interested in a full kit. Sending a PM

Kraken 11-23-2017 04:34 PM

Just a quick update, decided to change the exhaust to 3" because it looks just so much cooler and on top of that paypal were kind enough to offer a loan so basically I will use that regardless of how many want to go ahead here, I would still suggest you get yourself on the list... hope in 10 days to have 3d work ready, then another 15 days for machining and pouring system and then casting which will be 2nd week in January :)

phocup 11-28-2017 03:38 PM

Hey Michael, is this GB only for 1.8 or can a 1.6 guy sneak in too ?

Junkwhale 11-28-2017 10:24 PM

Downpipe 3" too? (I feel like this gets asked over and over, but it's kind of the standard for other kits here so I don't see why anyone would go for a 2.5" on a blank sheet build...).

18psi 11-29-2017 03:03 PM

it's in the very first post

Junkwhale 11-29-2017 03:37 PM

Understood - was just asking because he said he was changing to 3"- has made the same change for the T25 ones previously (incl downpipe).

18psi 11-29-2017 04:00 PM

gotcha. well even if it's 2.75 that should be fine for 95% of the cars here

Junkwhale 11-29-2017 04:41 PM

My reading of the original post was all options were using the 2.5 cast elbow for the start of the downpipes.

No problems though, can always get the manifold and get a downpipe fabbed locally.

DarkEmperor 12-14-2017 10:45 AM

I'm interested in the downpipe kit.

danger2manifold 12-15-2017 01:15 PM

If these are still available, I'm interested in the down pipe kit.

dcreech0 12-27-2017 11:40 AM

Pm sent. I am also interested in the downpipe/manifold kit.

Here is the final version, tried my best for ewg but the runner and flange combination didnt allow for it :(

I wanted to do away with one size of pipe, elbows and vbands for practical reasons, however I am quite easy on that as i got some more stguff in 2.75"

EGR will be a go!

Want to cast second week of February as the machines are quite busy, they will be putting on the machine in between jobs, which im hopeful will bring it towards first week of february

GB still going as above, I will answer all msgs IF I dont reply to your message by tomorrow pls msg me again. I can be found online on facebook on my page or whatsapp +447940043243

autoxinvr6 02-01-2018 10:56 PM

Damnit. I hadn't seen this post yet and just bought a Mani kit, Subue flanges and a V-band Outlet for a VF48... Do those shipped prices include Hawaii?

Skamba 03-15-2018 09:22 AM

Some questions:
1) Is the group buy still active?
2) Would you also ship to mainland Europe?
3) Would you be able to do a full system with cat? If so, how much would that be? (Dutch law requires the cat to be visibly present for our MOT, as well as an exhaust gas test)

Thanks!

miataa 04-06-2018 06:26 PM

Interested in the group buy if this is still available. The $550 kit. Have a couple questions, will ask them if there is still a spot open.

Thanks!

Kraken 04-18-2018 05:23 PM

Hello, sadly the GB is finished, there no 550 kits left, I do ship to europe as I am in europe :)

Looking to cast the first batch the next 2 weeks, hoped for Monday the 23rd but delayed again

I am in real rush with this and even though I am very late I have actually been very lucky lately with everything, stuff just seems to get a lot easier

This is something I have been making for the 1.6 td04l

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...924/gGXxJ7.jpg

Long_av8r 05-04-2018 01:47 PM

Will there be another run of these? I have been looking at the TD04 19t for my car and would be interested in the manifold, elbow, and downpipe kit, I believe that was $550? If you plan to set another buy up, please let me know.

Its ready, sadly if you missed out on loaning me money so i can make stuff like this you have indeed missed out, im very happy with the manifold, monday its going on the dyno

There will be another group buy on the NC manifold which will be a top mount for now

So, guess you guys tell me what you think ?

phl 05-24-2018 03:50 PM

Its very impressive. I love what you are doing. Now I'm really looking forward to receiving my kit.

18psi 05-24-2018 03:53 PM

only concern I'd have glancing at pics is the lack of seat area for nuts
holes close to runners and you can see the surface area is not flat

90LowNSlo 05-24-2018 04:24 PM

Wish I bought one of these for my 1.6 instead of what I have now... these are amazing and very affordable.

Yes sadly that is a fault, the first batch will need a bit of the angle grinder treatment

This is only available for the 1.8, for now anyway, in principle if it works on the 1.8 i will make a 1.6 version. For the 1.6 i am still thinking a nice low mount or even better one with integrated exhaust housing

Thank you, and actually need to thank you for supporting me, without people like you it would been nearly impossible to be able to deliver it

90LowNSlo 05-25-2018 09:37 PM

The guy that made did it "top" mount when I told him i had power steering and ac... is that an issue to worry about or will a "bottom" mount work for all cars?

Kraken 08-28-2018 09:36 AM

Well, I am workingon a type2 1.6 td04l manifold and it may be ready by winter, they will both have a new cast elbow, when i am 100% happy with the response from the type2 1.8 will make a gb for the 1.6

phocup 08-28-2018 10:50 AM

Will be keeping my eye out for that GB. Thanks!

Has anyone received their group buy orders?

As the title states, I am curious if anyone has received their group buy orders. I paid a $450 deposit on a full system 7 months ago and am still waiting. in the past I have exchanged a few emails and WhatsApp messages over the months for updates on the status of my order and is always told it should be just a few weeks more.

Since end the of August I have tried to contact Michael a few times and have not gotten any replies to my email or texts. Am I alone waiting for my order or are there others impatiently waiting?

phl 09-19-2018 10:47 PM

I've had similar experience -- still waiting. I hope I didn't make a mistake trusting this guy. Promised ship dates have come and gone. Most recently, July 27, "I will be ready Tuesday" and Aug 30 "first on the list for Monday." My impression is that he's brilliant at making stuff and needs help on the business side.

ridethecliche 09-20-2018 01:57 AM

I would agree with that assessment re: needing help on business end of things. Have you tried messaging him on facebook or posting on his page?

The two replies I listed above were from his FB account (kraken mx5/miata turbo performance and custom fabrication)

der_vierte 09-20-2018 09:17 AM

Michael is a good guy and i enjoyed the best service i could imagine...

My order was 3-4 weeks late (last winter), but the wait is worth it, 100% and i'm sure everyone gets their stuff.

huesmann 09-21-2018 03:21 PM

I would say plan your build as if you'll get getting your parts at least a month or two after you're told you'll be getting them. But plan to be please with them when they do show up.

Lztaas 09-21-2018 05:40 PM

Thanks for the feedback and words of encouragement. Good to know I'm not the only one still waiting.

I got am update from Michael yesterday that my kit will be ready to ship Monday!!!!! Fingers crossed it ships next week, I'm looking forward to seeing the high quality kit others have mentioned.

Lztaas 09-29-2018 04:22 PM

Everything arrived yesterday, and the quality lookks great! I think it was worth the wait. 1.8 swap and turbo installation will give me something to work on this winter while the Miata hibernating. :)

I hated FaceBook both times I gave it a chance so I deleted my account. I looked at what I could see on FaceBook and quickly got tired of scrolling for an answer...

Does the TD04, 1.8 manifold work with power steering and A/C? One person asked about the 1.6 manifold but there was no answer. The only dyno chart I saw was a built engine. What about power and spool up on an unopened 1.8 engine, specifically an NB2 like my Miata?

I'm really not sure I'm interested after hearing many haven't received their kits after 7+ months. What good is saying "Payments are done through paypal as goods and services, you have 90 days to ask for a refund if goods are not delivered for example".

all kraken kits are ps/ac compatible.
dyno chart of build and not built engines will look similar spool wise, (not talking about crazy stroker builds with huge valves, but more common pistons/rods builds) difference is built engine will not blow up at higher power outputs.

Kraken is a small and very busy business, everyone gets their products, eventually.... i personally waited 1 month.

The dyno charts are going to be exactly the same except that the stock motors should try to make less power so they don't go kablooey, so smaller turbos and/or less boost. The setup doesn't include a turbo so what power you make is based on that.

it's a bit hard to answer your question about spool up and power because it doesn't really make that much sense as the manifold and exhaust are not going to be what limit power production in these cars. All else equal, I'd expect it to spool better than the FM setup because of the better manifold.

Kraken 10-03-2018 06:15 PM

Facebook does suck a bit but if you can tell me a better platform to keep in nearly instant contact with people I am all ears, you can reach me by email krakn08@gmail.com

Yes it does work with PS and AC, on my car I have removed the AC and modified the PS hose so it points down instead of towards the driver, photos wouldnt be very helpful to you however I have asked on facebook for some photos which I shall post here

You should see around 200-220whp, this a standard 1.8 NB with 19t wheel kinagwa compressor and full 3" exhaust

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/6...924/MLaGSJ.jpg

Even though I run a TD04L on my car I would say go to a T25 setup as costs are pretty much identical bar the turbocharger itself. Turbo availability is far superior on the T25 setup

From my understanding paypal covers payments up to 180 days/6 months but yes I was late in general

phl 11-04-2018 04:27 PM
