VRTSid 02-02-2007 05:03 PM

dangit i would looove to get in on this. 501's look really good, and the lower offset means I could rock some meaty tires... :((

Arkmage 02-02-2007 05:06 PM

look good, but so damned heavy!

Braineack 02-02-2007 05:06 PM

I'll move it.

nice prices!

Al Hounos 02-02-2007 05:25 PM

Thanks braineack.

15.5# for a $400 15x8 wheel is heavy?!?

Efini~FC3S 02-02-2007 05:27 PM

I'm pretty sure you meant to link to the m.net group buy of the 6ul, j/k.

6ul is 15x8 and weighs 12lbs

Those do look pretty good though

My crappy BBS knock offs in 15x7 are 14 lbs and cost like $80 a piece new... so yeah. I'd prefer something under 12 lbs or it's not worth changing 'em. I'm looking at the tracklites at the moment they're like 10.5 lbs in 15x7 and $130 each.

Why 15x8s anyways? Seems like that's a hell of a lot of tire to stick under the car without flairs.

Al Hounos 02-02-2007 06:22 PM

I like the 6ULs also, but adding it up on their site, the total comes to $978 + $71 shipping, whereas the same setup with these is $700 + mounting + shipping for the tires.
We'll say <$800 total versus $1050. Plus, I think these look better. :P

Why 15x8? FOR THA PIMPNESS OBVIOUSLY!

turbopezz 02-02-2007 09:22 PM

i like the sportmaxes.those and the 002 are the shit.

F20turbo 02-03-2007 10:35 AM

I wonder if I can fit the 501's with the +15 on the rear with 225 tires...... If I can fuck it Im down.

RicanmiataRacer 02-03-2007 11:27 AM

That's why I went with the 6ul's, I know I'm going to be able to fit 225/45/15 on the front and the rear with no problems.

User Name 02-03-2007 12:35 PM

Found out. One piece.

Probably not without a little heat gun and baseball bat work.

+1
You can run 225-45r15 on a 7 inch rim to i am running a 225-50 r15 as is Andy i believe and several others for an 8 inch i would try some hoosier 250-50 R 15's or something fatter the rear isnt the problem it is the front.

turbored 02-03-2007 02:50 PM

imitation 3 piece with plastic bolts.

$978 + $71 shipping or $700 + mounting + shipping for tires + fender flares ;)

Not really, did you see the pictures on that page?

cjernigan 02-04-2007 02:24 AM

I'm not really into the group buy wheels either, i just don't think I would like them on my NB.
The car came with these Imagines though. Heavy as hell if nothing else, atleast 21 lbs. Came with BFG Gforce KDW rubber though.

yeah, i don't htink they'd look great on a NB either. they're old school JDM, yo.

I'd love to have some super expensive work or watanabe wheels, but for 1/3 the price, these sport maxes will do fine.

example:
Attachment 216986

cjernigan 02-04-2007 02:44 AM

They are definitley old school and good for that. Those wheels you just posted are pretty nice. I'm not sure what I'll end up doing with my wheel setup. I'd like to get some 16x8's and drop the suspension an inch one day with some Tein COs. I'm still running stock suspension which is the only reason these 17" konig's don't rub I think.

Fireindc 02-04-2007 02:51 PM

On a side note, someone sell me their old wheels once they get new ones.

Savington 02-04-2007 08:14 PM

Wanna buy my OEM Hollowspokes? :D

Fireindc 02-05-2007 07:18 PM

If the price is right, i may be interested.

m2cupcar 02-05-2007 11:16 PM

the thing sucks about the 501s is the whacked lug holes- it's like a shot gun blast :barf:
otherwise they'd be hotness

Al Hounos 02-05-2007 11:26 PM

hmm... price jumped to 450... i don't understand why his shop can't buy the other 3 sets and save everyone $50. i don't like that.
fuck it, that pisses me off. I can wait till i actually need new tires... maybe something else will come along.

and yeah, its too bad they made them with eight lug holes, but that's what you get with cheap wheels.

actually his shop is getting the others, so it just went up 50$ for fun.:ugh2:

m2cupcar 02-05-2007 11:57 PM

I like the way those Drag DR20s look, but they're a "normal" 38 offset and 7.5"
definitely qualify as "cheap" @ under $400/set

http://www.dragwheels.com/image.asp?...502&height=500

bronze set for $395 delivered

Al Hounos 02-06-2007 12:07 AM

yah see, now that's what i'm talkin bout. it would be nicer if they were +25 or so, but I guess you can run a bigger tire with +38. and they come in gold. i just gotta decide: sweet low offset, or less lug holes?

m2cupcar 02-06-2007 08:50 AM

dare I say "s p a c e r s"? :dunno:

Al Hounos 02-06-2007 11:38 AM

Well it's not just being flush with the fenders, it's the deep stepped lip that is the attraction of the 501s.
Plus it looks like gold dr20s with spacers will be about $550.

Oh well, I've got two sets of 14" tires to burn through till I need to worry about new wheels anyway.

Hard4Hardtops 02-17-2007 01:31 PM

I debated over a week between these wheels and the 6UL's.... my car being stricly for track the 6UL's made more sense.. and I got quoted $290 for a set of 002's. The offset is too low IMO.

Al Hounos 02-17-2007 01:35 PM

Yeah, doesn't really matter any more, because just like i said, something better has come along,

Rota RB will now be available in 15" sizes, including 8" width with medium offset. And yes, in gold as well. :D

96rdstr 02-17-2007 03:01 PM

I still think the gold chaparals from Rspeed are pimp. Wait.....I have them!:)

No the 6UL fit without Fender Flares.

By the way say "6UL" four times fast and they name changes

Sharky 03-08-2007 07:01 AM

I just ordered a set of 6ul wheels and can't wait until they get here.

I think he meant to imply you need flares to run the sportmax, you dont if you run fairly narrow tires, but for anything substantial, hes right.

the 6ul thing 4times fast, I thought that was the point, because they are sexual. I just wish they came in a color called chocolate, so you could have 6UL Chocolates.

but heres some sportmax/flare pics
