excuse my ignorance. what does the filter do?

btw, you have very nice cans

Kelly 12-11-2006 12:20 PM

The filter is just one last thing to ensure only vapors make it through the can. I think with the baffle in the top it would be fine without it. Its a nice touch though. Thanks for the compliment. You should feel how firm they are.

Can you toss one of these onto a scale for me? I might want 1 or 2 of the black ones for the VW project.

Kelly 12-11-2006 01:11 PM

Yes I will do that tonight. Some weight could be lost going to aluminum fittings over the brass for sure. Its light as hell though. I though someone sent me an empty box when it showed up.

They are 1 lb.

Sorry for the stupid question or newbee question...what is the purpose of the catch can. I kno its to catch oil but what purpose does it serve.

Man WOT you got a lot of good interesting deals! Keep it up! Too bad I don't have a money tree in my backyard or I would be all over it. I need a WB, oil catch can maybe? And a Turboblanket!...

I've been looking for one of these with the clear tube on the side so you can tell how full it is and when it's time to drain the tank. Do you make these such that you might consider adding that feature?

Mymiataflys 01-30-2007 09:21 PM

Bill , I have a differant brand with a clear tube on the side , or I should say it used to be clear. It quickly turned an ugly yellow and brown, plus is a concern for breaking. My current can does not have the tube and I like it much better. These cans appear better than mine, since they have the baffle and are easily torn apart, mine is shorter, which I found helps in mounting.

You could drill and tap one of these cans and thread in a hose barb. Put a short section of clear hose on the barb, and when the hose is full, time to drain. Or tap it and put a drain plug in it, and pull the drain plug each time you check your oil. I'm OCD about checking oil so the latter would work well for me.

Fitting a nice ball valve drain on the underside would make draining a snap.
