GB on ABS sheets for undertrays
first, sorry to get everyones hopes up with the title, there is no groupbuy
i have tried to set up a groupbuy for us with piedmont plastics (based out of charlotte) but gave up since it stopped making sense (b/c im not a small business owner) Reason the GB did not work out is b/c the discount was not enough to offset the shipping cost to each of you, i got the guy to agree to 15% off on 20 or more commitments, again, not enough to justify considering you can buy this localy without discount and come out cheaper. So, i want to let everyone know what they have to offer and how much $$ since i saw a lot of interest on this subject. Dimension: 4'x8' thickness: 1/8th Price; $49 Dimension: 4'x10' thickness: 1/8th Price; $60 http://www.piedmontplastics.com/locations.asp they also have locations on the west coast if you dont have one near you, they do ship, but id encourage you to get someone from here to buy it for you and then ship to you. best of luck Dan |
oohhh sweet one 10 mins away, thx :bigtu:

can't abs plastic be heated and bent, then it will retain its shape? or will it require some sort of fastener to retain a shape that is not flat?
|
Why not use metal?
|
i need some to make a shroud for my jaw WB to keep the sun light out so that i can see it better. I have some aluminum sheet that i can work with but the ABS sounds more user friendly
|
Is it a round gauge? I've got a couple of hoods from ProSport gauges I will not be using. For the price of postage I will send you one.

no its a square gauge, probably 4"x1", thx for the offer though.

My undertray also acts as a splitterand I have hit it many times coming out of driveways. If it were metal it would have been destroyed by now. If you dont extend your tray out past your lip or bumper then metal should be fine.

reason i'd rather use ABS instead of metal (ss, al, etc.) is b/c abs IMO looks better (stealthier) and is easier to work with (cut, shape) it also will make less noise when you scrape it like someone said coming out of a dirve way and its flexible and retains original shape under normal temps, unlike metal which will just bend and look fugly later its hardcore, easy to work with, doesnt stick out like a sore thumb, and its relatively cheap i'd like to make it a undertray/lip combo, lip really just to protect my paint on my bumper and to help route more air to the IC and rad. many benefits that i like you can also buy 1/16th thickness for much less and build a shroud for your radiator, IC, and also a radiator block plate |
