New FM Group Buy center
If you want to put together a group buy for an FM product, we're introducing the new Group Buy center. It takes all the hassles out of administering the buy, and opens it up to anyone and not just a small group - making it more likely you'll reach the number of people you need!
To be honest, we've avoided group buys in the past because they can be a problem to deal with. Not anymore, here's how it works: 1. We'll announce a group buy on a certain product. The announcement will include the discount, the number of people we need to make it work and a deadline. You can keep track of the current group buys on our website. 2. If you want to join in, then you can either order the part through the website or give us a call. We'll take your payment information, but we won't charge your card. The website will be kept up to date with the number of people who are currently signed up so you can see how close we are to getting the minimum number. 3. At the end date of the buy, one of two things will happen. * If we have the minimum number of orders, we'll charge your card and ship the parts. * If we do not have the minimum number of orders, we'll give you the option of buying the part at the regular price or canceling the order. Let us know if there's a certain product you'd like to see. Flyin' Miata : Group buy center |
Well done. Good to see you innovating in your marketing. This' great for the enthusiast crowd.
Butterfly brace. |
This is a great idea. Hopefully you're open for a little criticism, and you probably have reasoning for doing it the way you did, but doing more than one item at a time would probably increase web traffic, increase interest in the items you carry, and generate more sales as word about these deals gets around. But maybe best to start small and see how it goes. Good job nonetheless!

We'll definitely run more than one at a time, the site is set up to handle as many as our brains can comprehend. There are one or two more on the way as soon as I can get confirmation on pricing. I expect to have another up tomorrow, but no guarantees. We've had a lot of suggestions of the butterfly brace so I just need to get a thumbs up from the boss. I'm also hoping to put 3" exhausts on there. |
Very cool!
I posted this on our local Atlanta Miata forum and the suggestions were FMII kit, rollbars, butterfly brace (a popular request already I see), turbo hard lines, Frog Arms, and Energy Suspension bushing kits so far. You are welcome to come in and post up and surprise the heck out of everyone: Flyin Miata Group Buy - MX5 Miata Atlanta Owners Club |
roll bars aren't technically FM products, I doubt they'd be able to do a group buy with them.
Lets see, that's 16% off the springs, so the V8 plus the drive line kit should only cost $3360, I like it. Sounds like you already have the ball rolling for the butterfly brace, but I'd be in for frame rails as well. |
We adjusted the prices of the frame rails and the butterfly brace yesterday, by the way. The total cost is the same, but the new prices more accurately reflect the cost of production.
We could probably do roll bars, we're not restricted to products that are exclusive to us. |
just offer the free shipping on rolls bars lol i could use a new one lol
|
Very cool. If you end up making Lexan rear windows that would be an awesome group buy. ;)

Put your Wilwood adjustable brake proportioning kit back up.

I wasn't on the list. I'm waiting on my 11" rotor kit from M-tuned before I order the bias kit from you :)
|
The proportioning kit has been added to the group buy list. We're closing this one off in two weeks, so if you're interested then call us and get in on it. That includes all of the people who claimed to be interested on this forum. The way that buy worked out is a perfect example of why we decided to start running them ourselves - we had a 20% follow-through.
|
k, just pre-ordered through the GB Center... 8 of 10.
|
IM GETTIN SUM SPRINGZ...or atleast need 3 more in on it...
|
Brake proportioning kit has the green light. Still waiting on a few people for the spring discount.
|
We've made a small change to how this works. As soon as we have the minimum number of people, we'll start shipping. The buy will remain open for the rest of the time period.
There may be exceptions to the rule in the future if something has to be produced in a set quantity or if we're waiting for a minimum order size to get any of them - but overall, that's how it's going to work. And we've hit our minimum on both the springs and the brake parts, so they're starting to ship. |
I see my card was charged for the Springs. HAPPY TO SEE Waiting to recieve.
Many thanks, and works out with a few $$ off. |
Any chance you can make the proportioning kit adjustable from inside the cabin? I think alot of people would be interested in that. Myself included.
|
It can be done - that was discussed in this thread. You'll need an extra piece of brake line from your local auto parts store. The length depends on where you decide to mount the valve. It can be done without any flaring or cutting. The hard part is finding the best place to mount the valve, then you just have to run lines to it.
