Payment sent. Aside from dropping 1000 for a motor tomorrow, I'm pretty excited for the louvers.

I didn't know about non-ferrous stuff packing in the wheels, and it got loaded up and then grenaded on me. That was... terrifying.

That is my worst fear. A grinding or cutting wheel exploding at 15k rpm never can end well.

I used the 0.035 cutoff wheels on my angle grinder when I cut my hood. No load up. The wheels are so thin they wear fairly quickly even with aluminum so even if they ever loaded up, that part of the wheel that was loaded wore away.

We'll leave the Genesplicer packaging style to him hahaha...

However, I got some interesting looks just a little while ago when I bought 25 yards of turbo kitten soft-pink vinyl...

me too. I was waiting for the buy and then I got home from work and it was over. :( My hood is all prepped and ready for cutting. It's stuck all blotchy and prepped until I get louvers. I'm only going to paint once.

I've seen this happen with big chop saw blades, but I think you'd wear through a cutoff wheel faster than it would take to blow one up. I've used cutoff wheels on aluminum hood several times without any issue at all.

saw it on power block. i dip my cutting wheel blades in it before cutting aluminum, and it works.

Seems like it would be a huge mess.

I cut my hood recently for a similar set of louvers and an angle grinder went through it like butta

Has anyone used one of these?

HF electric shear...

14 Gauge Swivel Head Shear

I would worry about it distorting the hood, but I don't have any first hand experience with shears. I used a dremel and 3" cutoff wheel when I installed my Aerocatch latches and it was a PITA. I'm leaning toward a cutoff wheel on my 4.5" grinder for the vents, unless someone has had good luck with a shear...

I wouldn't use that. It will bend the edges of your cut.

That's what I was concerned about... cutting wheel it is.

I've done cuts on my hood with the Harbor Freight Air Nibbler. It will barely leave a burr on the surface, and is easy to guide for a smooth outline. It is a very handy tool. A buddy of mine used it to cut the wheel wells out for his fender flares with good results.

If you get one of these you probably want to remove the hood before cutting because it creates crescent shaped bits that are sharp and not that easy to clean up from the engine bay.

I decided to photoshop the louvers red on the MSM and I think they look much better color matched. This is the route I will go once I get my hand on a set.

Sweet. I think they can look realllly good with a proper color match (much better than the photoshop), excited to see someone do this.

Also, I made the gurney flaps removable and they piggy-back on the same front two bolts for the louvers so that if desired you can run without them on the street and there aren't any open unused holes making it look incomplete.

You clever SOB. Its product details like this that really send something over the line of good to great.

I'd like a set for an NB when the second group buy happens. Are you willing to ship to the UK?
