Is this a thing?
I was thinking of picking up one of these because I've had **** luck with cutoff wheels and alu before. Electric Body Saw
I didn't know about non-ferrous stuff packing in the wheels, and it got loaded up and then grenaded on me. That was... terrifying.

However, I got some interesting looks just a little while ago when I bought 25 yards of turbo kitten soft-pink vinyl...

Has anyone used one of these?
HF electric shear...
14 Gauge Swivel Head Shear
I would worry about it distorting the hood, but I don't have any first hand experience with shears. I used a dremel and 3" cutoff wheel when I installed my Aerocatch latches and it was a PITA. I'm leaning toward a cutoff wheel on my 4.5" grinder for the vents, unless someone has had good luck with a shear...

I've done cuts on my hood with the Harbor Freight Air Nibbler. It will barely leave a burr on the surface, and is easy to guide for a smooth outline. It is a very handy tool. A buddy of mine used it to cut the wheel wells out for his fender flares with good results.
If you get one of these you probably want to remove the hood before cutting because it creates crescent shaped bits that are sharp and not that easy to clean up from the engine bay.

Also, I made the gurney flaps removable and they piggy-back on the same front two bolts for the louvers so that if desired you can run without them on the street and there aren't any open unused holes making it look incomplete.
