Ferarri 308, ITB, Haltech 2500 Tuning

EDIT: Oops, misspelled Ferrari

I have a friend that re-built his 308. I am not sure what internals he has gone with, but he passed this on to me:

Haltech Elite 2500 and will run NSP software ( not the ESP SW )…..drive by wire throttles, TPS for load signal, crank and cam triggers with sequential injection and 8 coil on plug ignition, fuel temp and pressure, air temp and pressure, water temp, oil temp and pressure, knock detection.

CAN based : 8 EGT sensors, 2 wide-band O2 Sensors, 3 configurable 50mm gages ( made by GageArt but sold by Haltech )

Not sure at the moment if one or two knock sensors. I can obtain any kind of details.

Street use.

1) I understand that Haltech has some good tuning tools for getting good knock sensor set-up. Are det cans still recommended?
2) Any good sources of information on Alpha-N tuning?
3) Can some form of Hybrid tuning be done with post-throttle vacuum for idle tuning? I think this has been mentioned before and Simon is considering this an option.
4) Is this something we should be able to work through? I think I did a fairly good job of tuning my Miata with Speed Density, but I would think the Alpha-N would be less precise on fueling, and there might not be the wealth of knowledge available for the 308. But... perhaps I'm wrong, and I can get some help here.

You can also try Guild of EFI Tuners on Facebook. Just like here smart questions yield smart answers. I would imagine there is also a dedicated Haltech FB page.

Actually, all Haltech Elites can run the new NSP software. A major release just occurred for this to be an option. It's killer because the NSP software includes a built in oscilloscope.

JimKDen, on the Haltech forum, is pretty knowlegeable about the 2500 and alpha-N. He's running a 2500 on his car, helped me set up my 1500 using alpha-N on mine (both BMW s14 motors), and has helped many others. He set up his knock sensor on the dyno, so he's familiar with that, too. And he's retired, so he loves having something to do. :)
